NEW WELP 1360 TOWER

Riding up highway 8 from Easley toward Pickens, I noticed that WELP 1360 has erected a new tower right beside the old one. I can only assume the old tower was the original one from when WELP went on the air in 1951. Obviously the old one will be dismantled. I wonder if it has structural problems due to its age. Does anybody have any inside info on this?

I understand it had some problems with rust, age, etc. If an AM tower has sections not conducting signal, it can be a problem with how much coverage the AM station gets plus cause problems with the transmitter tuning up..especially solid state transmitters.
