Get ready Triad!!! WGHP-TV 8 is going back to its` roots by starting an all-retro channel that will air mostly TV shows from the 1950`s-70`s! Hits like "The Partridge Family", "Maude", "Sanford And Son", "Burns And Allen", "Brady Bunch", etc. will return to the Traid beginning on 1/1/2011. I have seen the schedule and it is packed with shows that have not been aired locally here in years!!! I am sure that Time-Warner will pick up the new channel. I would love to see tham use the classic-EIGHT ball 8 logo from the 1960`s and `70`s.

Sounds like someone GTO's is on drugs! Maybe, they can get "Paul Bearer" Back?? Naw, he died in orlando, I think!

In fact, all of the Local TV stations will carry Antenna TV, including former Fox O&Os like WGHP and WJW here in Cleveland.

The network is being operated by Tribune, which basically runs the Local TV stations.

It would be cool if WGHP-TV 8 could add some local programming to this. I do know that some stations that air "The Retro Network", sometimes break into the feed and add their own retro programming. For example, a Colorado that airs the Retro Network, bought a package that includes "Get Smart", "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C", "Petticoat Junction", etc. Would love to see a new version of "Dialing For Dollars".

I noticed WGHP Fox has fired up heir sub-channel 8.2 and have been running an old fashioned "test pattern", but I need a source with just a little more credibility than goodtimesandgreatoldies. Goodtimes you have posted so many rumors and rumors of rumors that never come about, I'll believe when I see it. You have ZERO credibility on this board. Fox 8 is getting ready to do something on their sub-channel, the question is, what are they going to program, and is Tom Collins really involved? And where did you see the alleged program schedule? Matt Smith, what is your take on this new "retro channel"?

To: ohiomediawat & wncc I did not read you posts concerning the WGHP 8.2 sub-channel before I posted above. Didn't mean to question your information, I just saw the GTGO post and the Tom Collins references and thought it was another of one GTGO's visions with the rest of the board responding in our usual way. Sorry about that.

Jan 1, 2011: Three Stooges Marathon.

Jan 2, 2011: Benny Hill Marathon.

Jan 3, 2011: Regular programming begins.

at 5:30pm should i watch Threes Company on 8.2 or Andy Griffith on 2.1?

Ha..Ha..Triad Newsman. Guess that you saw that I was RIGHT (like I am most times on this board). If you go back and review, you will see that ANOTHER POSTER made the STUPID comment about Tom Collins programming WGHP-TV 8. It was not me! Next time, please READ the postings alot more CLEARLY before making comments about things that are incorrect due to your lack of reading the posts fully. Thanks so much, and Happy Holidays to you Triad Newsman!

See? It's misleading words like "back to its roots" and "starting an all-retro channel" that makes people question.
Even if triadradionewsman read every letter exactly, there's still gaps there that the rest of us are left to fill in for ya Good Times.
BTW
DYN-O-MITE
;D

Actually, Quad this IS WGHP-TV 8 going "Back to its` roots" and becoming a RETRO Channel! First of all, programs that will be shown on 8.2 like "The Partidge Family", "Monkees", "Three Stooges", "Burns And Allen", "Lassie", "Benny Hill", "I Dream Of Jeannie, etc. were ALL shown by WGHP-TV 8 LOCALLY in Syndication back in various periods of time in the 1960`s-early 80`s. So, YES that is going "back to its` roots", in my opinion!! And as far as Antenna TV being a RETRO Channel- It is (or will be) when it airs. Most programs are from the 1950`s-1970`s. Only a couple are from the 80`s. There is a RTV-Retro Television Dig. Sub Channel that is shown in many markets. This Antenna TV actually has a better lineup and MORE Retro programs than RTV! At some point, I think that WGHP-TV 8 locally will add some shows to the lineup (like other stations across the country). Maybe shows like "Mayberry R.F.D."?

Then you don't understand "roots."
WGHP isn't going back to anything.
They're using 8.2 for Antenna TV.
FOX will still be there. How is that "going back?"

Great. Then call it "Antenna TV" and stop saying "RETRO CHANNEL" so much.
It makes you look clueless. Er.

At some point, I think that WGHP-TV 8 locally will add some shows to the lineup (like other stations across the country). Maybe shows like "Mayberry R.F.D."?
I thought you had the inside line on that other thread? They were buying up programming libraries and inserting them into the schedule already, over there?
Did you get another hot email that said something different between then and now?

Again, some posters are over-reading posts. Yes, WGHP-TV 8 IS in the process of buying some older libaries of TV shows to show locally. I was SUGGESTED that they add "Mayberry RFD" to this. Geez.... Since, we all live near Mayberry-Mount Airy and Andy Griffith Show is so popular on WFMY-TV 2. Once again, Antenna TV IS a RETRO Channel. Nothing wrong with describing it, when most folks have no idea what Antenna TV is (as proven by some of the ignorant posts by some). Can some of the uptight posters on this board please RELAX and stop taking everything so damn personally. Even posters from other boards (like Ohio Media Watch) are making comments about it here. RELAX!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 All this crap has already been played to death on TVland, TNT, USA.. Law and Order is on somewhere every time you turn the TV on.. Most of those shows, I didn't watch when they were on Primetime TV.. Why doesn't someone start the Dallas series or Knot's landing or that other one with John Forsyth and Joan Collins.. instead of this junk! I'd rather see reruns of Imus in the Morning on FAN!
