New WGNY-AM Website

According to the National Radio Club News, WGNY 1220 has been granted a permit to adjust their Day Power to 5000 Watts & Night Pattern Due East. See actual report below...

"1220 WGNY NY Newburgh - After a slight delay when adding an augmentation, their CP for
U4 5000/180 is on the air. The new night pattern is directed due east."

I just looked up online that WGNY-AM website is up an running, but it says "Our new website will be up shortly". I will give you a link to it.

I wish that this station comes right into Poughkeepsie and Kingston in the daytime, especially in the car. Any thoughts?

This is from the FCC data base on WGNY's AM change in operation.http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?state=&call=wgny&arn=&city=&freq=530&fre2=1700&type=0&facid=&class=&list=0&dist=&dlat2=&mlat2=&slat2=&NS=N&dlon2=&mlon2=&slon2=&EW=W&size=9 Their power is about the same, just the is pattern different. I think. I don't really understand all the technical information here .Any technicians out there know what are they gaining here? I don't seeing it affecting Poughkeepsie or Kingston.

Looks like WGNY is on the move...they have updated their website yet again with a even brand new image for their new website. Same url at http://www.wgny.net/
They seem to indicate their new website will be ready real soon.

I can't believe they are playing 50s & 60s music..they should be playing 60s & 70s like many other Oldies stations are doing today. Does anyone think they will stay with this type of Oldies music or flip to another format ? :(

The site is now STREAMING!!!

50s and 60s is a quite logical move for a station whose management puts little financial or physical investment in it. It will atract the new "standards" audience, a vastly underserved elderly demographic ignored by the larger, established stations in its own markets and those surrounding it.
If HV stations were able to survive programming canned MOYL formats, than this is the logical progression.
