Marty Thompson is replacing Steve Mann as P. D. at WGRR, Oldies 103.5! Would this be the same Marty Thompson who, upon his return to Cincy to P. D. B-105 said "Oldies is a dead format. We should dump that as soon as possible"? Yes it would. Would this be the same Steve Mann who has worked his butt off for WGRR for over 6 years and has been P.D. for only about 5 months or so? Yes it would. They should have bumped him back to A. P. D. as Marty can't handle the job for both stations all by himself. And would this be the radio station that apparently registered a Jack 103.5 website not too long ago? This could get real interesting very soon! Meanwhile, a truly fine radio guy needs a gig. There has to be room for the Elder Panther and Cincinnati native in this town!

Is Mann totally out? That sucks. When Marty came back to WUBE it seemed like this might happen. Too bad, but I think I heard something about a new AM station doing Oldies. Maybe he can latch on to that?

Say it aint so.....If Steve is totally out, it would be a shame. He had the title for 5 or so months, but he did the job much longer than that.

Steve Mann was the young sounding voice that a station like WGRR would seem to really need as they try to make the station a "younger" oldies station. He sounded like he was having fun on the radio and enjoying the oldies music. Lots of relatable and funny stuff for the listener. A while back he also did some shifts on Q102 and sounded good there too. He'll land on his feet. This looks like a really big screw-up for the gang on Reading Road. You can't tell me that with 4 stations they couldn't find room for this guy somewhere, I ain't buyin' that.

Rule # 7 in thing Radio 101 course for those of you who have obviously not completed the course is "never keep the old PD in the buidling after he's been canned". He might be a nice guy, he might be totally capable, but without ever being in the way or meaning to cause problems it just can't work. The new PD has to be free of the burdens of the past. Steve is a good guy and will land on his feet. He was in over his head and the station needed some direction. Marty will provide it.

THe station has not lost it's young edge just yet. They still have Travis Everly in as A.P.D. Don't give up on the young blood just yet.
