NEW WIRED 96.5 Morning Show Monday Morning

Was just on Wired96.5.com and they have a splash page mentioning "FINALLY A REASON TO WAKE UP IN THE MORNINGS!--WIRED 96.5--STARTING MONDAY."

Looks like they had Big Mama's replacement already set when they fired him.

Any speculation? Chio? An unknown from another market? Java Joe?

I havent heard any rumblings.

Definitely not Chio. According to Klein, he's got a six-month non-compete in the market.
 
Isn't the new PD taking over mornings with his "crew?" I thought that was reported on many industry sites.

This just isn't right. (warning: RANT)

If I were Big Mama and crew - I'd be looking into some kind of wrongful termination suit here. Such a raw deal for them. 4 months and out??? Why didn't ownership/management have their backs? Tisa hires them, he gets axed, a new PD is hired and decides he's going to bring his jocks with him (from freakin' Hawaii) and blow out a team that hasn't even had more than a book to prove themselves - and Clifton/Beasley lets him do this?? He hasn't even proven he has what it takes to program here and he gets to do this?? That my friends, is BAD MANAGEMENT. They should have kept BM & WB for at least another 6 months; if anything, keep them and see how the Chio situation plays out 6 months down the road.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no big fan at all of Mama. I hated his night show at FLZ/Tampa, but I just think they deserved more time and I hate seeing this kind of blatant nepotism being displayed. ("Hey guys, I'll bring you with me to Philly and we'll blow out the morning show!!!")

Good luck Hawaii boys. Something tells me your Island humor isn't going to work in Philadelphia.

(BTW, have you heard Hawaii radio? It's crap.)

If there was nothing in the contract that said they couldn't be blown out at a moment's notice, I can't imagine they'd have a leg to stand on. At my job (and yours), if person 1 gets hired and then person 2 who can do person 1's job better (or cheaper) shows up, person 1 could be fired at the drop of a hat.

Philly Gets Re-Wired: Coming in to do mornings at WRDW (Wired 96.5)/Philadelphia are Sam "The Man" Ambrose and Ryan Mots, replacing Big Mama & The Wild Bunch. Ambrose comes from the MD/afternoon drive chair at KDDB/Honolulu, and Mots was at KQMQ/Honolulu. The two used to do mornings together at KXME/Honolulu.<P ID="signature">______________
