New Withers Station in La Center

Anyone notice Withers got the station he won in La Center on at 104.3? WRJJ.

It sounds to me like they're rebroadcasting a channel from the Dish TV music channels with an ID thrown in every ten minutes or so.

Withers already owns 95.9 WGKY in Wickliffe, located in Ballard Co., the same county that La Center is in. They bought it off Larry Kelly a few years ago and flipped it from Classic Country(live during some day parts, satellite the rest of the time) to Oldies(live during morning drive at first, now satellite 24- 7 except for Ballard Co. high school sports, UK, and St. Louis Cardinals baseball).

What will Withers do with it in the near future? If they decide to go country and try to compete head to head with WKYQ, they're outta their minds. No way they can even take any cume away from Bristol. They already have Rock and Top 40 in Paducah, but that hasn't stopped them in the past from running the same format on two different stations in the same market(i.e. Carbondale-Marion, IL). If I were them, I'd go AC and carry Delilah at night to compete with Stratemyer Media's K-98. Whateve the format, it'll either be satellite or voice tracked from Paducah.

I'm surpised someone hasn't gone a/c in the market to go against Stratemyer... if Sammy would take that station local he would make a killing..

If Withers goes A/C, I doubt Delilah will come on... they're already running her on KREZ in Cape, which picks up in PAD, and WHOP's coverage is still in the ballpark range...

Sammy will never take K-98 local. That means he'll have to spend money.

No one in Paducah listens to KREZ. All the more reason for Withers to put a/c on the La Center stick. Then they'll go after the 25-54s who don't like country or News/Talk.
