New WNCI/WLZT PD

Wow. Florentino is going to know how to work WLZT with him formally being at Sunny.

As for WNCI, hopefully they lean more rhythmic or at least less repetitive. It sounds horrible lately. Maybe they can beat Power for once, lol.

And for Saga... I wonder since he's gone if we'll see anything new happen to Mix.

Given that this is Columbus, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any significant changes of any kind, especially on a major signal. That would apply even if we were talking about the world's most talented programmers.

The only significant change I could envision is LZT becoming WTVN-FM after Christmas, but I doubt it.

I wouldn't doubt it. Channel 955 in Detroit has changed a bit since McCoy entered. Not as rhythmic CHR... but WNCI hasn't really changed a bit. I guess a little less Hot AC and more mainstream CHR.... I hope Tony Florentino doesn't play conservative PD and have it sounding like Premium Choice. I don't understand why WNCI can't sound hot. We're like 36 in the market for crying out loud. Some small markets sound better than NCI.

As i've said before, 'LZT will be WTVN-FM eventually, but when who knows. I don't see WNCI changing a bit either...they've ALWAYS been a ultra-conservative CHR since I started listening in late 1990(Hopefully no one remembers the dreadful mid-90s AC days under Dave Robbins, when he took 'NCI in a Sunny-like direction).

One oddity in the press release announcing Florentino's move to CC Columbus. Namely, this quote from JohnBoy Crenshaw:

"In addition, we don't have to teach him about North Broadway running east and west, or Grandview Heights being down the hill from Grandview."

Grandview Heights is down the hill from Grandview? Now, how did I miss that all these years? I thought Grandview was simply shorthand for Grandview Heights, just as Arlington is shorthand for Upper Arlington.

It was odd enough having WCVZ's Littick suggesting that his move-in will be particularly strong on the WEST side of Columbus when that's actually one of the worst coverage areas. But I didn't think JBC would make a mistake like this -- especially when he's talking about not needing to give someone a geography lesson. No biggie, just a curiosity. Or have I been misinformed about Grandview all these years??

Well, with it be WTVN-FM during his watch? Only time will tell.

Grandview Heights is actually UP the hill from Grandview, not down. John just used the word "down" because it's been very much on his mind lately, what with it being the direction of both his revenues and his ratings.

The building Clear Channel is in is actually on a bit of a hill. To get over to Grandview you have to go down that hill and up the other hill into Grandview. He might have been referring to going down that initial hill.

V, if that's what JbC meant, it would sure be a stretch, especially since the CC studios are in Columbus.

Jakej, are you serious? The official name of that municipality -- all of it -- is Grandview Heights. I could see what you say conceivably being true as local customary lingo rather than official names, but I've epent a lot of time in and around Grandview and never heard anything like that...

Well, I'm in the same building as them, and yes they are in Columbus, but Grandview Heights is basically on the other side of the road (Dublin Rd - 33). Just go west on 5th Ave and you are in Grandview Heights. Oh, and yes, it is often shortened to Grandview, but I don't know if that is official.

Not exactly. Don't forget that you have to first traverse about three inches of Marble Cliff going up the hill.

Wondered if you would notice that. :D
