New WODS logo

even though the o-word is part of their filename/site name, note "WODS 103.3 #1 For The Greatest Hits".
The o-word is still prominent on the station's front page

I just hope they keep the jingles around a bit longer...I really enjoy hearing the classic 70's JAM jingles again.

Today, I noticed for the first time some "WODS" JAM Sonovox jingles. Some of the "Oldies 103.3" ones are still airing too, for now.

Hmm...well, if anyone has the Oldies 103.3 sonos in the clear (or their Do It Again package), I'll gladly trade for em. I have the Jammin 105 Jam/PAMS cuts, CBS-FM's "Do It Again" and the Ken R CD of CBS-FM jingles. Along with the "Magic Of PAMS" box set.

At least the music is still decent. Any station that still plays "Do You Love Me" in regular rotation is aces in my book.

Looks like the transition away from "Oldies 103.3" is just about complete. The website has been redesigned with the new logo prominently displayed (though there are still some references to "Oldies 103.3" here and there). Also, as of today, the end of the weather jingle has been resung with the call letters, and other new jingles have been added. I haven't heard the O-word at all on the air this afternoon.

I think this was bound to happen sooner or later... it's amazing that the O-word survived this long when other stations dropped it years ago. I don't really see the big deal, as I know many people young and old that refer to this music (and sometimes even newer music) as "oldies". And it's generally not with a negative connotation. But hey, the music and the presentation still sound good, which is all that really matters to me.

Here's some of the new jingles recorded off-air for those of you who are interested. They're still using vintage JAM. http://jinglemad.com/e107_files/public/1254507653_10694_FT69280_wods_october_2009_a.mp3

But now the o-word is indeed gone from their page, or at least the headline. And the jingles.

Growing up in late 60s/early 70s I pictured oldies as the 50s, then 50s and 60s...WODS has focused oldies on
60s-70s (though they used to have the 50s) and of course a few 80s songs popped up from time to time (even
more so on Tom Kent's show). But "greatest hits" is seen as more positive than "...old...". Old.You listen to it so you must be... "old". But..."greatest hits..."

If oldies refers to stuff from 20-25 yrs ago shouldn't they be 80s...?

Of course note that when I clicked on it just now the first image to pop was up the Beatles in their Sgt Pepper
gear. That's 42 years ago folks...but then there will Billy Joel (OK, slightly more recent)...Beach Boys, Aretha,
Stevie Wonder...still a bit of focus on 1964-to-early 80s. Only not "oldies"...

I have noticed before that their weather music seems inspired by Kind of A Drag (Buckinghams, 1967 or so). You can almost sing along with it: kind of a drag when your baby says good-bye, etc
