WOGL has a new logo & moniker on their website. Personally, I think it isnt that good looking.

Any thoughts?<P ID="signature">______________

Looks like it was done by the same guy who did the CBS 3 logo, probably
with Microsoft Paint. Also looks like approximately 500 other logos.

Ugh.

Looks pretty low-budget. But, it IS 100 times more appropriate than that starry, 50's-looking, Lawrence Welk-looking logo they had previously.

I liked that logo 1000x better than that 2 color WBIG-FM ripoff logo. At least the old logo looked like it was done by a pro (hmmm, 50's & oldies - what a combo!)<P ID="signature">______________

Remember that stupid logo they had with the car? Oh, that was awful.

I think the new logo is very clean and simple looking and that's good. It's not cheap looking, like the logos for BEN-FM and CBS3.

I wonder though...do they really intend to concentrate on only two decades of music? Shouldn't they maybe start thinking about coming a little beyond 1979? (To be fair, I can't think of an 80's song I'd like to hear in their mix.)

If they're really going to only play songs from the 1960's and 1970's, they'd better open things up to a whole lotta other genres!

It reminds me of CBS-FM's old logo with the coloring ONLY, but it needs much more personality. Not only is it bland, but if you're going to put THAT on a t-shirt or billboard, I sure wouldn't pay any attention to it---it blends in too much without having a quality that "jumps" out at you, like the stars or creative lettering.

The new logo is just, well... blah.

I think something like Billy Joel's "Its Still Rock N' Roll to Me" or "Uptown Girl" would sound good in the mix. Perhaps WOGL should begin touching 1980 and 1981.

this may be part of the reason for the logo and new moniker:

from all access:
INFINITY/DENVER VP/Programming KEITH ABRAMS has been upped to VP/60's-70s Hits Programming with oversight of the company's 11 Oldies stations -- including WOGL/PHILADELPHIA, WOMC/DETROIT, WODS/BOSTON, and KOOL/PHOENIX, among others -- effective immediately. ABRAMS will continue to perform his DENVER duties, as well.

I agree. Boring and, as you say, blah. It is simple and clean though. I liked the old logo and slogan. It was more creative and original. Greatest Hits of the 60s and 70s is used on MANY oldies stations.<P ID="signature">______________

Oh yeah - that was such a bad logo </sarcasam> - creative, origional and used colors that stood out and had a car to match it!

My guess is they will play a few 80's tunes. Just like Sunny plays "3 decades of sunny music", yet listening to them you will often here songs from the 60's, 70's 80's and 90's. So while the 60's and 70's will be their main focus I have a feeling a 80 tune here and there will be put in there. Afterall they may not have been jacked, but they can still try to take away some of ben's listeners.

There are plenty of 80's songs that could work on OGL. Its gonna be odd hearing music once played on hot hits back on the 98.1 dial.

I know I've heard WOGL play (not recently) the Four Tops' "When She Was My Girl"...which is from 1982.

A "new logo and moniker on their website"? Wow. That's as effective as re-arranging the deck-chairs on the "Titanic".

Well, they are removing 50's references from everything including their playlist. The logo and their little motto definitely interfered with that plan.

I wasn't being a smart-ass...hope that it wasn't taken that way. :) I was agreeing that they don't always coordinate what they SAY they are with what they APPEAR to be.

I'm not sure even THEY know what they want to be when they grow up.
