New WPHT PD

Heard a rumor from a sales guy (so take it for what it's worth) that former WWDB-FM PD Jim Casale may wind up at WPHT. How ironic would that be? Would he bring back Irv Homer?

How funny. I wouldn't mind hearing Irv on the air again. I was upset when he left Levittown's WBCB and would welcome him back to the airwaves. Would he be up for it is the question though?

Evil Irving has 4 broadcasts now on his website. He is totally fed up about the restrictions and controls put on talk radio. But one can not rule out anything can we?

And, of course, there's the "rumor" that a veteran AIRTALENT and programmer (Philly, New York, New Jersey) is being considered for the gig.

Then again, he has experience in running talk in this region. He probably doesn't have a chance. How unfortunate.

Isn't Casale the guy who dumped Phil Valentine (who was rated third overall in this market out of 25+ stations) for the unknown (and, ultimately unsuccessful) Ron Dobson for the morning drive on WWDB?

Isn't Casale also the guy who reportedly called 9-1-1 (and summoned the Lower Merion Police Department) after a heated "meeting" with then station consultant Randy Kabrich (the guy who convinced the Beasleys to dump 25 years of Talk on the station to lauch his "'80s format" known as "The Point"?)

As always, I welcome corrections to my otherwise usually-flawless memory.

Re: New WPHT PD...and newscasts wasted on promos

Who's bright idea is it to start having the news anchor spend half of the :30 news break promoting other WPHT programming? Gives the station the same insincere, tacky aura as you get from those used car lot informercials on Saturday morning.

And, the news anchor sounds a bit like someone who is reading the stuff with a Kalashnikov pointed at her head.

A really tacky move....
