New WSB-AM late-night talker: Chris Krok

WSB-AM PD Pete Sprigg has confirmed that their next new star is: Chris Krok!

Chris who? He's a late-night host from Minneapolis talk station KSTP-AM. Only 31 years old, the Chicago native has had numerous jobs, first in broadcast TV, then in talk radio in markets such as Jeffersion City, MIssouri and Madison, Wiscosin. Here's his bio still up on his former employer's web site:

http://am1500.com/krok.htm

He will man the 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. slot, doing a live and local show, the first one to do so since they dumped Royal Marshall about a year ago. (Marshall, as most of you know, continues to engineer Neal Boortz's show).

Clearly, the station is grooming Krok for bigger and better things, in case Savage collapses in the ratings or Boortz or Clark decide to retire.

Beyond this bio, I know nothing about him or his political leanings or stylings on the air. I hope to meet him Monday though.

Good news. Krok was supposed to move earlier into late PMD as Rush, and later this year, Hannity, are being swiped/relinquished from KSTP. Good to see WSB realizing that no matter how popular Boortz is, endless hours of Re-boortz is just stupid. And Clark Howard replays... please. And as if WGST had any listeners, Krok's style is interesting enough to perhaps even swipe some listeners from Noory's 10pm prefeed.

I also think it's a good thing that WSB is going to a live show again at night. This should be interesting, if for no other reason than it's not a tape. Thumbs up to Pete Spriggs.

A huge thumbs up to Mr. Spriggs-nice to see them go back to
local and live late at night, this will be great since back
in the early 90's during Desert Shield/Storm when WSB was
local and live with Wes Minter from 8-Midnight and then
followed up with David Paul from Midnight-3AM. That was some
great radio back then, and hopefully we'll hear those days
here again soon with WSB.

I always loved Royal Marshall's "the Royal Treatment" show that was on in late nights. Why did they decide to cut Royal's show anyway. I thought it was great.

Since he was doing the 7-9 (or was it 7-10) weeknights, he was
very likely bumped because Cox Upper Management wanted WSB to
air Michael Savage in that timeslot and therefore, Royal was
moved out of that timeslot permamently. It would be great to
see WSB go totally local in prime time, especially being the
only 50k station in this area.
