This reminds me of the WEJZ circa 1987...which is to say, an 8 year old DJTommyR going to the dentist's office and gagging from the music coming from the radio in the waiting room.
Notice also the same imaging voice from Kool 100.7 and Arrow before that. Renda LOVES this guy. But it's not WSOS without Jay West! LOL
I'll give them some points for not duplicating a format already in the Jacksonville/St. Augustine/Brunswick/Hilliard market. Maybe I will listen until I get sick of this music, much of which I have not heard in years, if ever.
It would be nice if Renda supported this as an equally worthy companion to Lite 96.1, with a full schedule of jocks, some billboards, maybe a little cross-promotion. Just wishful thinking on my part.

WSOS - Nice to hear something different
I never would have known about WSOS if not for the posts. Well, my car radio now has 94.1 locked in and I spent time listening to the station at home this weekend. Liking/not liking any particular radio station is a personal choice AND I love what I am hearing. The music is mixed very well and it's so nice to hear pop hits of the past that you can't really hear elsewhere.
I'm sure SOS and WEJZ can exist very well together. Interesting about the music is that there are a good number songs the old WKQL used to play. And I will admit to like hearing Barry Manilow and John Denver.
It would be in Renda's interest to promote this station. This effort sounds like a winner to me. Kudos to all involved in making this happen. For months, I've been talking about the need for another adult station in the Jax maket. I wasn't thinking it would be Renda but radio is usually full of surprises.

I agree about the mix of music as well. It sounds like time and effort was put into this format flip from Hot AC to Familiar AC or what it is called down in Tampa Easy Listening, but it sounds like a lot of good music blended together to gives us the new "Sunny 94.1". Hopefully the will promote and do what is going to get WSOS to be a winning station.
Also when did this flip happen? Was it Friday? Would have not expected a flip with Renda until a Monday morning, not Friday!

Is the signal staying as is?
As fine as the station is, listeners will tune out with poor reception. I live about a mile or two south of Tinsletown and I can hear the station fine in my immediate neighborhood and home. However, as in the case, with other low-power stations, as soon as I approach Tinsletown, there is drift etc. (For those not familiar with the area - there are tons of radio/TV towers there) Does anyone know if this is a temporary situation? I wonder what other parts of town are experiencing reception problems.
I thought the consolodation of stations to Jax was done for Renda to be more competitve. It's tough to be truly competive if listeners can't hear you.

Renda has a proposal to change the table allotments filed with FCC that would change the station's city of licence to Fruit Cove with stick south of that city. This would put a 70dbu signal over most of Jacksonville but still not a great signal. They are still putting a 70dbu over St. Augustine in this proposal but they are very limited by the big 94.1 in Savannah. They are currently closer to Jacksonville then before but if this change is improved Jacksonville will actually gain from this station.
