Tribune Company today appointed broadcast sales executive Richard J. Graziano as vice president/general manager of WTIC-TV (FOX61) and WTXX-TV (WB20) in Hartford, Conn., effective immediately. Graziano was previously general sales manager at WLVI-TV (WB56), the company's Boston station.
"Rich is a solid choice to lead our two-station cluster in Hartford," said Pat Mullen, Tribune Broadcasting president. "His major-market sales and management experience will serve us well in a market where we see excellent growth opportunities."
Graziano served WLVI as general sales manager since July 2001. Before that he was the station's local sales manager, from 2000 to 2001. He joined WLVI in 1999 as national sales manager.
"With a sales career that includes both Fox and WB affiliates in the top 10 markets, Rich will be a great asset to WTIC and WTXX," said John Vitanovec, Tribune Broadcasting group vice president. "I'm also pleased that we're able to promote from within the group, which again shows the depth of talent in our television management ranks."
Prior to WLVI, Graziano was national sales manager for Fox affiliate WAGA- TV in Atlanta, from 1997 to 1999. Before that he held several sales positions at WFXT-TV, the Fox affiliate in Boston, from 1994 to 1997. Graziano began his career in radio sales in 1990, working for two of Boston's top stations.
"I'm thrilled to be staying in New England and look forward to working with our great management team in Hartford," Graziano said. "With one of the strongest Fox affiliates in the country and a WB station on the rise, this is an exciting and unique opportunity."
A native of Somerville, Mass., Graziano, 36, holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Boston College, where he majored in marketing.
