New X-Band log 9/16/13

With good conditions straight east, I had a brand new X-Band log! Marysville, WA.

1700 - KBGG Des Moines, IA; several direct response ads (Ageless Male, Life Alert, Total Transformation); CBS Sports jingle and ID "1700 The Champ" at 845pm PT 9/16. Wanted station logged! NEW #483, 1493mi. Sounded like 10kw day power however since it overpowered XEPE!

Also had huge signals of KXEL and KSTP, as well as KRND 1630 Fox Farm WY and 1060 with ABC News at TOH likely KGFX Pierre SD again...

On 1700 I also heard what sounded like CBS Sports real strong coming from the East, thought it was KVNS; forgot they went to Fox Sports Radio, and they're usually the eastern station we hear underneath XEPE. I already have KBGG in the logbook, but would have been cool to log it down again...

As an aside, I heard XEPE IDing several times as "The Mighty 10-90", and then as San Diego's Sports Leader The Mighty 10-90, and the "new" 1700.

On 1650 just heard mush... nothing coming up over the rumble...

On 1670 heard very faint EE talk from E-W, underneath KNRO. Def. not Spanish -- but, no IDing characteristics.

KSTP was loud here at my QTH also, loudest I've heard it so far this season. KXEL was audible but not readable underneath KXPA.

I think the DX is showing promise so far this season.

I thought it was KVNS as well. But it wasn't match the Fox Sports format on other AM stations. I knew it had to be something good, like KKLF or KBGG. Turns out it was the latter.

Heard some EE on 1670 actually best E-W (!) Might have been WTDY-WI which I *really* want to get one of these nights. That would be a milestone, I've never heard a "W" call on the X-band.

WTDY is now WOZN "The Zone" sports talk. The 1670 signal gets out reasonably well. Weak, but easily audible here where I am about 80 miles southeast of their tower. At night they usually get swallowed up here, but I've heard them pretty much all over the Midwest and parts of the South. Along with various locations in Ontario, Canada.

KCJJ and KBGG (in that order) have the best X band night signals in the Midwest from my observation.
