Of the recent R&B songs I've heard, the most interesting to me is "IT KILLS ME" by MELANIE FIONA.
In its production, if you listen closely, you hear the "water-drop" guitar sound. When she sings the title (the refrain), that's where you hear it. I hadn't heard that sound since its' developer, Vincent Bell, was all over the Pop charts with it in 1969 and 1970. The first time his water-drop guitar sound surfaced was as an integral, but uncredited part of piano duo FERRANTE AND TEICHER's Top 10 hit "Midnight Cowboy", a theme song for the movie of the same name. Then in 1970 he finally got credit on AIRPORT LOVE THEME, another movie song which was a modest hit credited solely to VINCENT BELL. Sometimes known as Vinnie Bell, he was a prolific studio musician who excelled in making unique sounds with his guitar. He can be heard on Frankie Valli's massive hit "Can't Take My Eyes Off You", and on Pop/R&B songstress Freda Payne's first hit "Band of Gold".

I just wonder if the effect on Melanie Fiona's record was produced by a guitar or a computer?
