New Years Format Predictions for 2012

Here are mine:

92.9 I know I am always debated on this subject here on the board, but I still think it is a possibility that they could turn into a CBS "Newswatch Never Stops". Z-93 CHR?

94.1 Stays what it is at but needs to improve to contend with 98.5

94.9 A WGST simulcast is always a possibility.....as I noted in an earlier post today, their website is briefly redirecting to 640's....but I think it will stay country. Plus, why don't you move WGST to HD 2 and put "Immanuel" on HD3?

95.5 Changing that would be about as stupid as, well nothing is as stupid as that.

96.1 Will move to 105.3 and 96.1 becomes Rush Radio 640 and 96.1.

96.7 Everyone always forgets about them...so here it goes. They will continue to simulcast WiLD.

97.1 Should flip to something else....but is the leader in rock. So I guess it can keep its format.

98.5 Don't change something that isn't broken!

99.7 It will be the same.

100.5 Sportsradio 68 and 100.5 The Fan

101.5 Leader in country, but just barely...so it is kept the same.

103.3 Just as stupid to change as News/Talk WSB.

104.7 Leader in Christian...it will stay the same.

105.3 Will switch to Prog. Rock as "The Buzz @ 105.3"

105.7 I don't think a change to WGST is likely on 105.7 because of its limited coverage of downtown Atlanta.

106.7 My favorite channel-- with the exception of the WHAM!-Stevie Wonder transition that happened last week, we talked about. I would keep it.

And the 107's will stay the same...I sometimes forget about them.

I think CBS should bring back Z-93 and an all-star lineup of Ross Brittain and Brian Wilson (with special guest stars Randy & Spiff on days off), Randy Reeves, and Dale O'Brien...as a Greatest Hits station and go after 106.7. ;)

A WGST simulcast on 94.9 is always a possibility because, after all, we're talking about Clear Channel.

I don't think CC will mess with The Bull.

I don't know what to predict anymore, since El Patron is hiring staff. Apparently it's not going anywhere.

JUST THOUGHT I WOULD PRESENT THIS: THERE'S SOMETHING IN IT THAT I LIKE.. ;)

This is what I see or hope to see happening for the new year:

92.9 - DaveFM - Leave it. Atlanta is a young city, meaning there are two good-sized university students that like to listen to AAA. Why flip it. There signal is not that bad at all.

93.7 - Good Sports station. I am wondering, however how strong the signal is. It is pretty clear around Perimeter/Ashford-Dunwoody where I am currently located for the weekend.

94.1 - Hot AC - It's Good. Leave it. But seriously, do not air the Falcons games on it. That's for a Classic/Rock station to do if not a SPORTS station...93.7. DUH!

94.9 - The Bull. Leave it. Country Sounds good in a Southern City like Atlanta. But we do have Kicks. Which one do people perfer listening too is the real question to ask and which one can spark more of the listening range.

95.5 - WSB-AM simulcast. Fine. If people want it, Fine.

96.1 - Now, this is the Question: What to do with it? You have WILD 105.7/96.7 where the signal is yucky. It's nothing like a Wild in San Francisco and boy, the way Atlanta is growing these days, you need to have the reasonable yet common sense to put a CHR/Rythmatic Station on a stronger signal. Out of all the Clear Channel Stations Atlanta has, put it on the Damn strongest radio dial and don't touch with it. Yep, that does not include simulcasting it on a weaker one. Too many simulcasting here in Atlanta which is kind of sad. Houston, Chicago, Miami don't simulcast all if it's FM station's to another FM dial. I would put Wild on 96.1 [I am KDM, and I also approve this portion of this entire message!]

97.1 - The River. Well, could make it Classic Hits. The Name really fits well with it. However, you do have 106.7 - which takes the point of it being one. So, I'd say leave it.

97.9 - the Journey. Fine, The signal sucks so...

98.5 - AC - Soft AC - Leave it.

98.9 - 99X - haha, same as 97.9 the Journey.

99.7 - Q100 is a good solid CHR. One thing that bothers me is Billy Bush. Umm, Atlanta needs local and fresh talent during the nighttime not a syndicated guy. Cumulus, be smart here. And yes, I am talking about KRBE too.

100.5 - Drop it. The Formal Replacement? I don't know...

101.5 - Kicks - 2 Country Stations in Atlanta is enough. Leave it.

102.9 - Ok, so another simulcast (sigh). Hmm, from where I am currently in - the signal is reachable. But, 107.9 is not. Hip Hop is very important because of the African American demographics.

103.3 - V103 is a good, solid station. Leave it. Remember folks, it's all about demographics.

104.1 - Yup, Kiss is good. But that's two African American radio station's right next to each other by the dial. So, you could do something with 102.9. Radio needs flavor not repetition.

104.7 - Christian AC. Sure...I guess

105.3 - Ok, Spanish is Good. Need a spanish station. But Would WGST be a better fit on this dial?! I can't really know. But go for Talk, here! Especially Talk will be very important for the upcoming Presidential elections... HINT CLEAR CHANNEL

105.7 - Spanish

106.7 - Oldies/Classic Hits

107. 5 - Bring Smooth Jazz Back, haha. IDC about this one

107.9 - Hot 107.9 - Eh, I don't know

Guys, Atlanta needs more variety. Space out the formats with reasonable ones too. Signal, overall is the most important and will reach more ratings for stations that need the ratings. Hint - WILD/99X..etc.

Comments on KDM's post:

92.9 - DaveFM - So if you have G Tech around...thats just their type of music. So, why does it get such bad ratings. IIRC a 2 in the last PPM?

93.7 - Of course it is clear downtown...but what about all of the sports fans located in the north suburbs. They can't hear either 680 or 93.7 there.

94.1 - Agreed!

94.9 - Bull= Newer Country Kicks= Older Country Younger demos will always prefer Bull while the older ones will always prefer Kicks. They are completely different sub-genre.

95.5 - What do you mean, "if people want it, fine"? Do you want the Beat back?

96.1 - Agreed!

96.7 - Either sell the station or put "PEACH" back on it.

97.1 - "97.1 OLDIES: Atlanta's NEW Greatest Hits and Home of Randy & Spiff.

97.9 - the Journey. Fine, The signal sucks so...

98.5 - Soft AC? I would say it is a Hot AC with the currents and no 70s.

98.9 - "99X - haha, same as 97.9 the Journey" Why does it have on air personalities, then?

99.7 - Obviously, Cumulus want hime on their stations.

100.5 - Drop it. The Formal Replacement? I don't know... Dickey's 680 Sports Radio

101.5 - Kicks - 2 Country Stations in Atlanta is enough. Leave it.

102.9 - Who cares, unless you are talking about WDUN.

103.3 - V103 is a good, solid station. Leave it. Remember folks, it's all about demographics.

104.1 - That would be three african american stations next to each other. 1029, 1033, 1041

104.7 - Christian AC. Sure...I guess

105.3 - Yeah, Rush Limbaugh's station is not inside the Top 10 in a top 10 market which is unheard of.

105.7 - Spanish

106.7 - Oldies/Classic Hits

107. 5 - Sell it to CBS and put All News on it. "News Radio 1380 & 107.5, All News All The Time" and end 97.5 simulcast.

107.9 - Keep it because Radio One needs to have at least one urban.
