New Year's marathons

I see that AMC will be running The Three Stooges. I wonder if the commercial breaks will be longer than the segments.
SyFy will be running the Twilight Zone. Usually they do a tasteful job.
So will I/Pax be running their informercials marathon and TV land running Married With Children for 24 hours?
Anyway I'll be spending the day switching between AMC and SyFy.

WGN America will be running Barney Miller all day as well.

I'm watching the "Brownie" episode as I type this. Laughing out loud. "Mushy, Mushy, Mushy, Barn."
"Hey, sharp as a tact."

I tried to watch AMC's Stooges marathon last night, but gave up after an hour or so. The ad breaks seemed even more longer and more frequent than the last time I watched it a few years ago. Jeez, it seemed like you'd get 2 minutes of Stooges at a time, followed by 8 minutes of ads. (Maybe I exaggerate -- I wasn't timing them -- but it sure seemed like that.) I wouldn't even mind long ad blocks if they could show at least half of a 15-20 minute short in-between them, but the way they did it made it utterly a worthless endeavor for this viewer. Why can't TMC get the rights to these shorts and do a proper, uninterrupted marathon some day?

I've seen the Barney Miller "Brownie" episode many times and I still laugh so hard I almost cry whenever I see it again. It's the best one as far as I'm concerned. And I would love to see the Stooges on TCM commercial-free.

Cartoon Network is airing a Looney Tunes marathon, heavy
on the Bugs Bunny. They don't seem as choppy as what I've
seen in the past (especially on ABC) but they do seem to be
somewhat abbreviated. Has anybody seen this, or is it my
imagination?

I said this in the other Stooges marathon thread, but it applies here as well: I'd like to see TCM carry the Stooges, but they would probably do it like they've done with the Hal Roach shorts. They got an exclusive 40 year contract to the shorts but are using them very little now except for occasional Laurel and Hardy nights or weekends.

I've always thought TCM should make Saturday and/or Sunday mornings the time for classic cartoons, shorts, and serials. They had Cartoon Alley a few years back but it was dropped when the Turner networks weren't carrying Looney Tunes and have had serials occasionally, but it's sporadic at best.

I guess that an occasional Stooges night or weekend on TCM would be better than the way it's being done on AMC though.

Actually, the 3 Stooges Marathon was only on New Year's Eve. AMC stopped running the marathon sometime during the night because when I turned on the TV on New Year's Morning, it wasn't the # Stooges they were showing.

Anybody watch much of the Twilight Zone marathon on SyFy? Maybe I missed them, but I didn't see any of the hour-long eps this time around. There also didn't seem to be many of the promos, bumpers, and creepy "zooming shutter" eye logos this time (although from what I understand, there are plenty of people who are scared of the Viacom "wigga-wigga" logo.) I did get to see one of my faves, "The Hunt" (Good ol' Rip...He made sure Ol' Man Simpson didn't go through the wrong gate.)

We watched quite a bit of it and you're right - SyFy was A LOT more respectful to the TZ than it has been in years past. Yes, there were a few annoying pop ups right when they would come out of a break - but these tended to be very quick. However, for the most part they tended to take it easy with the scissors and with the annoyances this time around. A big improvement over years past and I'll give them some kudos for that. Reminiscent of how NBC was a little better to It's a Wonderful Life this year too.

Now, if only we can get them to drop the last of those pop ups and the constant promo in the corner above and below the bug (a staple of NBC-U channels now), I'd be a very happy camper!

"You see Mr. Simpson, a man, well, he'll walk right into Hell with both eyes open. But even the Devil can't fool a dog!" ;D

I do wish (and I know it ain't gonna happen) they wouldn't scrunch the closing credits...It does make a difference on TZ because they were shown over a fairly quirky (sometimes even disturbing) still image from the show.

I wish that SyFy would get the times right in their schedule on the uncut episodes that they show in prime time. Each episode runs over by 3 to 5 minutes, but the times are rounded off to the half hour. If you're trying to record them they come up off, some by 30 minutes or more later in the night. I found out that the TV Guide on Charter Cable was fairly close to being right.

You of course realize that SyFy(I don't like that new way of saying "SciFi") is not in the business of providing material for use as a taping/recording service. They want eyeballs
watching every ad, spot and silly promo for whatever it is they're hawking.
