New Years predictions?

As we dive into 2008, what changes do you foresee in South Carolina? From Columbia over to Florence, back to Greenville, down to Charleston, and up to Myrtle Beach?

Columbia:
I am waiting for WZMJ 93.1 in Batesburg/Columbia to flip at any moment. What does everyone think on this? Also, do you guys think Ritmo will stay on 93.9 despite their ratings? Discuss! As for any other changes, I can't really think of any others for the Columbia market. If you guys see anything, then let's discuss that as well.

Charleston:
Obviously, we are waiting on 96.1 to move to 95.9 and 101.7 to sign on. I think Chuck will move to 95.9 and as for 101.7, it's anyone's guess. Also, I wonder what will become of 100.5, 100.9, and even 98.9.

Greenville/Spartanburg:
I can't foresee any changes coming to this market at this time.

Florence:
For some reason, this has been an interesting market IMO with great stations such as Power, WYNN, and the ability to receive some great out of town signals. As for changes, I don't see it happening unless 93.7 or 94.7 flips.

Myrtle Beach:
The rumor at this time is that the 93.7/93.9 may be flipping. warm939.com has been registered and directly goes to The Team website. Any guesses or ideas? As for other stations, 100.3 could be a possibility for a station to flip.

Just my opinions, I would love to see what you guys think. Take care and have a great new year!

Neil

Neil be careful of the warm939 URL as INDY 's 93.9 is prepped to flip Jan 2nd so anything is possible... They are also owned by The Cloud Company... CC1

I predict 101.7 will sign on with oldies.
It will not be Hip Hop as that would hurt b92.
Really I doubt oldies, but I predict it because Charleston needs Oldies.
But then again maybe 101.7 goes country, who knows.

In Columbia CC will continue the reign of bad choices by killing WCOS for Spanish.
Again unlikely, but who saw CC killing WRDU in Raleigh or killing long time country WFMX, or changing yet another station to Country in Atlanta?

Alternative Rock will return to Charleston...either at 101.7 (good possibility), 100.9, or 100.5.

In Columbia, if it's true Tyler is the new morning host on New 92...don't see that going too well. And if it's true that Johnathan Rush's contract is up in March with WNOK, perhaps he ends up at Double O. Stranger things have happened.

WZMJ-93.1, will concede the sports race to 1075 The Game. However, not wanting to get out of sports completely, and wanting to satisfy everyone's desire for them to go Spanish will implement...

93.1 ESPN Deportes!

In Myrtle Beach I would hope Cumulus would flip something. Hot 100 can flip but their signal is weak along with 93.9 and 93.7. I know someone needs to compete with Star 92.1, sure 94.5 flipped to Yes 94.5 soft ac but the signal isn't as strong. I really think 107.1 sound be flipped and no not to another Sound format like they just did. Flip it to AC and compete with Star or flip it to rhymthic CHR and compete with Kiss FM which doesn't know if they are Urban or Urban AC.

Now for KZQ. When 101.7 moves to Charleston where is KZQ going? To 96.1 on the radio dial?

I thought B92 shifted back to TOP 40/POP, especially since 95SX dropped POP. Seems as if someone in Chucktown would wanna take Z93 JAMZ out of that #1 spot for how many years now? Apex did come close with STAR 99.7, but more than anything they took down MAGIC 101.7 (now 107.3).

Greenville needs Oldies something awful, but unfortunately that probably won't be happening, at least any time soon.

Pretty sad when you can hear more variety of 60s/70s music in Bojangles or even Ingles than on the radio...

I say again this is why XM and Sirius are catching on, they give the listener more of what they want.
Oldies works, and it works because it is good music.
There is a reason these songs have stuck it out, people of all ages like them.

The only real problem I see with oldies is that it is a niche format and that many of the stations are playing the same old tired songs and not playing other songs that could be played. I think that a good classic hits format here in Columbia would be great.

As I understand it, KZQ is going to a smaller new 96.1 frequency
