New Years Programming?

Q97.9 is doing a Top 97 countdown show.

It appears as if stations are staying low this year with New Years programming. Usually you hear all of the "top 100 countdowns" and the ole' "A to Z" artists countdowns. I personally haven't heard too much of that, around southern Maine. None of the P-D-R stations have done much of that, and not too many Portland stations sound like they have. Has anyone else heard any countdowns, etc?

Happy New Year,
Lenny

95 Triple X decided to ring in 2006 by airing the American Top 40 Top 50 of 2005 7 times (as of this posting.) Yep, Ryan's been on for 24 hours straight now. I guess two or three presentations of the year's biggest hits wasn't enough. How about 7? I missed the #1 song the first six times it aired.

EQX as usual did the the top 102.7 of 2005. Well done as always.

What was up with the Patriots on "101 The Fox" in Rutland VT ? The audio quality was absolutely horrible, muffled and only in one the right channel.. Local commercials sounded normal. Any other Pats stations have this sort of trouble ?

I listened to the game on some other stations around the area and the audio was fine.

Can't say what happened at the Fox, but in my experience, it may be:

A: a defective (or dirty) pot on the board.
B: satellite feed cr@pped out and the game was fed via POTS line.

In my years of running board for these types of broadcasts, these were the two most common causes of such a problem. Problem (A) can be rectified quickly if you have another pot (or another studio) you can use for the game feed. Problem (B) can be a bit more tricky...it could be just a matter of clearing the dish of ice and snow to get a signal, or it could be something beyond my technical expertise.

The game sounded fine on my local affil., BTW.<P ID="signature">______________

Oh... My... God...

I really hate to ask, but what was the #1 song? My guess is Green Day. They were everywhere this year.

You missed all 7 airings? ;-)

Kelly Clarkson "Since U Been Gone" was #1.
