New Year's Stipulations

As an energy-savings initiative, why don't we resolve to save bandwidth on this site by stipulating the following, and agree never to mention them again:

1. AM is dead.
2. The "suits" are stupid.
3. The "suits" don't have a clue what makes good radio and will do anything, including the intentional loss of money, to stifle creative programmers.
4. Broadcasting is driven by advertisers who are not interested in the demographic for oldies, the music of your life, smooth jazz, polka or ska.
5. If station A could get frequency B from competitor C, move the signal to tower D, change the pattern to point the null at township E and hire personality F for morning drive, they might just be successful with format G.
6. AM is still dead. I just checked.

You could be right on most points, though I might argue that (1) and (6) are on life-support, not dead, (2) "suits" don't get commissions for being stupid, (3) probably has its share of exceptions up and down the dial (and I'll detail some if you like, with owners of the WJPA stations in Washington and the Family-Life operators of WTYM-1380 in Kittanning coming to mind) and (4) wouldn't include those who actually do advertise with Frankie Day or the WLSW deejays.

I might stipulate to point 5.

I should have posted a "Sarcasm Ahead" warning. These points are either self-evident or embittered grumblings. In either case, they seem to appear ceaselessly on threads here, whether they are germane or not. Time to retire them, true or not, and get some fresh thought.

2) "suits" don't get commissions for being stupid,

No, they commissions for doing whatever it takes to get that commission. Most often, it's pulling a bonehead move/firing.

Let's also add Krenn not returning to the DVE morning show in 2012. Not going to happen.

OK. You start.
