NEW YORK ARBITRON RATINGS: APRIL 2011

Well, I have to hand it to WRXP - they're obviously doing something right here. I guess all this time spent tweaking and streamlining their playlist has paid off. Or maybe the time slot switch between Steve Craig and Matt/Leslie has helped - based on what little I've heard, Steve in the morning is an improvement. It could also be that alternative rock is starting to see a resurgence, with certain new acts really catching on. In any case, even if the music mix isn't what I'd ideally like to hear, I'm glad to see a modern rock station growing.

And now the folks at RXP are going to look like geniuses because they switched their daypart hosts.

I doubt this will be bucking a new trend... i.e. don't expect to hear Bob Shannon in morning drive on CBS-FM... ::)

Do the improved ratings for RXP make it any less likely that the station will be sold?

Probably so. Now ESPN has no chance to get on FM in NY. Jets' fans, you're stuck with a directional AM! Then again, if there's no season, then no problem! ;)

Might as well just flip it to Country (PLJ that is), since they take such pride in targeting the suburbs anyway. At least that's a growth format.

PLJ's still doing well in New Jersey - I guess that's all that matters

Weird cause Hot AC ratings have surged in L. A. and Chicago

PLJ couldn't care less if nobody listens to them in NYC! As long as the NJ and LI soccer moms are locked on 95.5 in their minivans and SUV's, the advertisers are happy! :)
