New York August 2025 PPMs

RadioInsight:

Not much change at the top, but La Exitosa is up to a 2.0. WNYC continues trending down. And WOR sinks to an embarrassing 0.9. All 6+, but you'd have to think the bulk of that tiny WOR share is all 55+++.

The most interesting demo-specific statistic I noted from Research Director is in the 18-24 demo where the WSKQ *STREAM* ranks #2, up from #11 in July and #24 in May. In the same demo, WSKQ's over-the-air FM share ranked #5, tied with Z100.

Following along with the age 18-34 demo breakouts for Nassau-Suffolk
for the previous two surveys (June + July '25), the WSKQ Stream has been #2.
The August '25 Nassau-Suffolk results will be blog posted by Research Director Inc. on Thu. 9/11/2025.

July 2025 Nassau-Suffolk demo breakouts (scroll down to last market on page):
(WSKQ itself was #7 in 18-34.)

June 2025 Nassau-Suffolk demo breakouts (scroll down to last market on page):
(WSKQ itself was #16 in 18-34.)

In May 2025 for Nassau-Suffolk, the WSKQ Stream had ranked #21 in 18-34.

Evidently there's at least one "panelist home" with one or more members aged 18-34 in Nassau or Suffolk County
(which is embedded in the New York Market) who listens to the WSKQ Stream on a dedicated basis.

No other age demo seems to be affected.

The question of sample size may rear its ugly head again...

Something funny is going on with the 18-34 measurement. We all know streaming has been building for years, but an increase from #24 to #2 for the WSKQ stream in 3 months? What could cause that, apart from an insufficiently small sample size in that demo suddenly streaming that station at an abnormally high rate?

A jump/drop like that could be something as simple as a workplace adding/dropping said station/station stream as background music and someone with a meter being there multiple hours a day multiple days a week. Using a generic 8 hour workday/40 hour work week example, someone with a meter working somewhere with the same station tuned in would be exposed to the station roughly 160 quarter hours per week/640 quarter hours per month. @Huff or @davideduardo would know if exposure like that was enough to trigger the outlier rules that were put into effect a few years ago. But it could potentially be enough listening for a jump, especially if there is no noticeable change in other demo breakdowns.
