New York City Dance Fans....STAND BY

actually, the hip hop audience decided that hip hop and dance shouldn't be on the same station and they let the stations, and the djs in the clubs know that;the hip hop crowd is more about stance, perception and attitude than what the actual music is, quite often, but they are about macho and extreme maleness, and reina, amber and kim english aren't going to be their artists of choice anytime soon....

Back in 2002 and 2003 95.3-PARTY in Orlando was mixing in more and more hip hop and rap with the trance and techno, and I always thought that was real weird. But I continued to listen in whenever I was in town. Once 2004 got going PARTY dumped the dance music completely, went with all hip hop and rap, and became POWER-95.3. I guess the hip hop audience was much louder than the dance audience before the flip. Back in 2002 and 2003 they were one of the lowest-rated FM stations in the market. Fast forward to 2006, and now they are in the TOP 3.THE MAJOR

...it's the reality... it's a harder world, young men want a hard image, you're not going to see them singing along to a Deborah Cox record and shaking their hoo ha...maybe in '96, but not in 06...I've been saying it for years, to no avail, dance HAS to adjust, and welcome different types of artists and records under the Big Tent, because the tent ain't so big anymore, is it///www.myspace.com/thejimilalumia(check me out on Party 105.3's airplay listing in my "Comments" section in Myspace)

I wish they would go current dance instead of classics...Jeff Z is not programming the station the dance station coalition wants him to do it.

If there is a flip in format, look for Mix 102.7 to go current.

If you need current dance stuff, go to www.energy981.com for a playlist. <Mike Oaks would be happy to help

My bet is KTU is going nowhere... just from listening to all the liners promoting the new Wake Up With Whoopi show with Cubby and all the Dance Leader billboards that KTU will be here for the long haul...

I've heard the spots. I still take an apprehensive approach to this because sure, they could announce 'KTU as the "dance leader" and all of a sudden throw everyone off guard and flip. We shall see what happens at the end of the month.

But on another note, the 4th of July dance mix weekend is EXACTLY what 'KTU needs to do more of. MANY tracks that you would hear on Party 105 got on 'KTU this time around such as Outwork/Mr. Gee "Elektro".

Bring on more of these!

;) Clear Channel likes making money... KTU is a strong biller and will have what should be two killer drive shows, that should make even more money... so let's not worry, continue to hope for more new music and celebrate at beatstock! I've got my tix... I'll see ya'll there!

Once again....STAND BY ???

It was reported on another radio board that 'KTU will be leaning towards more familiar tunes and less of the currents. It will still be a "rhythmic" format, with not much new rhythm.

The Metro New York Dance Radio Coalition has restarted and can be found by going here...
