New York City July 4th 2011 radio specials schedule

CBS-FM will have their annual A to Z countdown, playing deep tracks as usual. Should be a big boost for the ratings once again!

Just heard Jim Kerr announce on the WAXQ-104.3 morning show that they will be doing a 4-Play weekend of all your favorite artists. Anyone know what WPLJ is doing ?

I know that 2 urban stations (WQHT and WWPR) and 2 Urban AC stations (WRKS and WBLS) are going to have mixshow weekends.

WHTZ and WKTU?? That I haven't heard anything from them yet.

That's neat, because I know of an Internet radio station that's going to be doing its own "4-play" weekend, which talk shows in blocks of four... ::)

Maybe 1010 WINS would do a special "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks" show on Monday night, it has great music to go with the fireworks. The same show will be simulcast on NBC. I remember WPIX-TV (channel 11) used to carried the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks" from 1976 through 1999 before it moved to NBC and it has been on that network for 11 years. WPLJ used to simulcast the Macy's fireworks show throughout the 80's and 90's.

I hate hearing Firework on the radio.

I don't understand why WINS is carrying the music from the Macy's Fireworks. Wouldn't it make sense for one of CBS Radio's 3 FM music stations to do this?

Not that I know of. 1010 WINS did carried the Macy's fireworks for over 10 years and it is still going on annually. I remember back in the day that WPLJ used to carried the Macy's fireworks annually back in the 80's and 90's, and then for a short time on WDBZ's "The Buzz" at 105.1 and then to WTJM's "Jammin' 105" until 1999 before it moved to 1010 WINS around 2000 or so.

After a short delay, I might as well be posting the entire aircheck of the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks" show from 1010 WINS from Monday. The same show was simulcast on NBC, and it was recorded off of stream. You might hear the music with the fireworks playing in the background, but it was a pretty good show. I watched it on TV the other night and I enjoyed it, but it's missing the first 3 or 4 minutes of the show with Brad Paisley playing at the very beginning. Enjoy!

There is a video of the same fireworks show without the music can be found on YouTube from the other night. Here it is.
