New York City Radio

Yesterday, while driving in NYC, I turned off the Sirius and tuned in WCBS-FM. I knew they were #1 in NYC, just wanted to listen to for myself. OMG! While Indy has too many stations doing the same thing with "Classic Hits" (WJJK, WNTR,WFBQ) CBS-FM never played a dud! They even segued from Dave Clark Five to "M" (Pop Musik). With Bill (IIRC) Shannon talking it up, it sounded cool, not a train wreck. They are playing a 60's to 80's mix, that for the 3 hours I was stuck in traffic, made it less stressful and relaxing.
While I do realize that this is NYC, the cream of the crop is here, my question is this:

Indy has great jocks. Period! Most are on the beach, but with this type of approach, it would blow the others away. They were live during rush hours. There stop set was way too long, but I stayed glued. I guess I am just dreaming, but only if...

I would love a great oldies station.... even though they are in the same company, listen to the stream of KRTH "K-Earth" in L.A. I think they are even better. A fore ground up front station with a modern oldies format that works. They are #2 12+ in L.A. which cant be easy.

I've mentioned this before: surely a live local and tight jock driven station featuring a HUGE variety of A and B side music will work. Sorta like replicating the good ole days of REAL radio like WNAP, WIFE, Kiss99, WLS… I'm not an expert by any means, but I do know music and remember the days of REAL radio in Indianapolis and it was fun to listen to and to work at...

I would be willing to relive my old college days and work as an intern at this type of station to help it get off the ground!! Or am I showing my age by saying 'back in the day...'?

I love WCBS... Great Station.. Best Classic Hits station ive ever heard... They are number one for a reason. ;)
