New York Giants on WLEZ?

I've been told that LPFM WLEZ will be carrying the New York Giants football games. Seems kinda out of place for this part of the country, but I can see why they would carry the Giants, given that QB Eli Manning played at Ole Miss. Also given that 970 the Fan plays the Dallas Cowboys, it would be interesting to hear the game from both perspectives when they play their two games against each other, just like with the Saints on 620 and now the Falcons on 103.9.

Usually carrying an NFL broadcast like that would force you to run their commercials, live reads, etc.

Isn't that typically something not allowed on a LP station like KLEZ?

The are licensed -- as are all LPFM -- non-commercial.

I thought about this when first heard about WLEZ (not KLEZ) carrying the Giants, since LPFMs are not allowed to air commercials. I would think that the Giants radio network knows about WLEZ's situation and grant them some sort of exemption.

Funny how these "non-commercial" stations always find a way to "serve" the listeners. Luckily, kind business "supporters" give "grants" to "sponsor" programming. Just more pieces of the pie getting scooped out.

I believe that they are overriding the network breaks manually with a board op, per my conversation with the station's owner. My new question is: how do they cover the "in game" features and live read commercials. Has anyone listened to an exhibition game?

I happen to flip by WLEZ while changing stations and I heard Giants play-by-play voice Bob Papa do a tag for the station. I guess this does confirm them playing Giants games.
