As a WBGO fan I do hope the big move ultimately proves to have been worth the effort, but WBGO's cume in January was 280,800 so it was actually up in March after being down in February.
Something tells me the numbers are all too close to be showing a significant trend, and the differences may just be normal statistical noise when you get that far down in a relatively small statistical sample.
Traveling around North Jersey, the new signal isn't quite as good to the west as it was from Newark, but hopefully it is a lot better in parts of Manhattan, Queens and Long Island where there are more likely Jazz fans than in Western Morris County where the new signal is now in and out.
It would have been nice to see a real rating bump after the new transmitter was installed, but the audience will probably build over time as people tune that far down on the dial and discover a new station that sounds good, and decide to come back and listen often. Somehow the station has to let people know its there in the areas where its signal has suddenly appeared.
