New York Yankees Baseball on "The Wolf" Is This Going to End?

For those of you have just heard that WKXP/WZAD's "The Wolf" is still carries Yankees baseball when it is simulcasting from WCBS-FM's HD2 channel since it started back around 2003. "The Wolf" is still owned by Cumulus, and Yankees baseball on WCBS-AM is owned by CBS Radio. I don't know if this simulcast will end towards the post-season. I found a link to a Daily News site that I've heard that the Yankees are moving to WFAN to call its station its new home when the Mets are out of the way. WFAN carried the Mets since 1987 when it was WHN, and then to WFAN when it was at 1050 before moving to 660 a year later in 1988. Now that Townsquare is going to take over, is the Yankees simulcast wil end on "The Wolf" until Cumulus gets out of the way until Townsquare comes in. I guess that a country station that carries the Yankees doesn't seem to fit the format during the last 10 years. I found this link right here. Read about it.

The Yankees moving to WFAN means nothing to any other station or this thread title. It's still CBS, and still the Yankee Radio Network will be what it is now. The Flagship will change, nothing more. The questions surround the Mets, which could have local implications depending where they go. Both WCBS and WFAN enjoy solid coverage over most of the Hudson Valley MSA outside of the Cat-skeels on their own and in personal connections that's how people listen anyway if they aren't watching on YES. If Townsquare blows up the cluster, oh well.

The Wolf is just one of many stations in the "Yankees Radio Network". These stations just carry the flagship station's feed. That being said, nobody knows what may change with TownSquare. Maybe they turn WKXP into an entirely sports-based station and continue the Yankees? Maybe they do that with WKNY and bring the Yankees back to WKNY? Maybe nothing at all changes?

After listening to Sunday's game where the Yanks won in the final game of the regular season, John Sterling never had any announcement about moving the Yankees to WFAN as heard on "The Wolf". The Mets also ended their regular season and made their closing remarks and plays montage of every Mets broadcast over the years. And remember, WKIP was the flagship station for Mets baseball for many, many years. But I hope that maybe the Yanks are moving to WFAN if WKXP ended the Yankees simulcast from WCBS-FM's HD2 when Townsquare takes over. Well see how it goes from there.
