NewFormat in Philly

Polka.

German Talk.

Classic Country.

All-Dog-Barking-Christmas-Carols.

There's more than one format Philly hasn't tried... and probably won't try.

Which one were you thinking of?

At one time WTTM "Double T 93 Country" played classic country (mixed with new country), with polkas and German talk on weekends - so that was close.

How about something obscure like "all Beatles & Motown" - oh wait, we already had that - Don Cannon's brilliant programming idea that lasted 6 months on WSNI-AM!

Did it myself.

WCUR 91.7FM on Christmas Eve / Day 2004 - rigged the automation box to play that on loop with nothing but the random liner or legal ID for 24 hours straight.

And 3 of the 4 WERE regular programming on WIBF/WIFI 92 Jenkintown in the '60's and early '70's. Right before the Ron Diamond Show.

I was born in '83... so I (fortunately?) missed out on those ;D

All heavy metal station?

I know, a all 90's station (top 40). Thats sure to pop up soon enough.

oh, just get the ice picks and shove them as far into my ears as you can now, before this actually happens.

A new talk format 24/7: "Something to Say w/ RJ"

u forgot port richmond legend mike phillips and dennis m

Now you are talking, and it would work in this market, Thrash, Black, Hair and Speed. K-rock's sister station in the apple tried it on AM 1480 Z-rock in the 80's, although they had a horrible signal, mono broadcast, plus it was satellite fed, it did very well.

But ... did it make $$$$? Doubtful, or it would still be happenin'.

The suits still count $$$$ every day, week, month, quarter and year.

They probably don't even listen. They just count.

What about this?.... How about a Station which has Liberal Talkers? (Alan Colmes etc...) Not those interns from "Air America 2". I am talking about people who know what they are talking about, not actors who think they know!! ::)

Tag-lines...

104.5...."We are never Right"

104.5... "We tried every format, this is what's Left" ;)

104.5... "We are very Liberal with out Talk"

104.5... "Hy Lit all morning, Great Liberal Talk all day" ;D (Love ya, Hyski) ;)

The last one..... 104.5... "If you do not like us, don't worry, we will change formats in 6 months!"

oh, good. that's a relief. I was beginning to think my prank had gone entirely unnoticed (because who listens to college radio on Christmas, anyway?)
