Newly discovered CT pirate in Collinsville

After getting a tip from a friend I confirmed that there is a pirate on 107.7 Mhz in the Collinsville area. It reportedly rebroadcast Springfield's WMAS for a number of months before switching to rebroadcasting KJQY 103.3 Mhz from Colorado Springs of all things!

Seems to be located near the junction of Rt179 and Rt44 in the Canton/Collinsville area. Coverage extends for a radius of about 2-3 miles.

I didn't realize that pot is legal in Colorado. I was quite surprised to hear ads for "med shops" (including one named "Mary Jane") selling the stuff. Who knew?

How far is Collinsville from CCSU in New Britain? They have their flea-powered signal of WFCS-FM 107.7 there. ???

According to indo.com, the Collinsville section of Canton is only 12 air miles from downtown New Britain.

Haven't been by CCSU in a good, long while, but from what I remember the signal doesn't get much past the campus, and the signal for WACC-FM in Enfield is also on 107.7 and thanks to having their stick atop Enfield's FD station #1, the signal gets about twenty miles, nowhere near New Britian, but I would think that a licensed station, even a college one, could petition the FCC to remove the pirate?

Why would someone put a pirate translator on the air?

Personal use, hearing their favorite station around town... also whacker factor.

Speaking of pirates, seems that 103.3 in Hartford has been getting stronger.
