For school closings, WWTI could just add their own ticker onto a raw feed from the studio (not going thru master control and getting closings added). That would also make it possible for them to get a "50" in the corner, along with a Watertown temp. I do believe they have the resources to air school closings (they did do it a few years ago, but I haven't seen recently). Just send up the WSYR graphics to get put into whatever system they use.
Weather could be interesting. WSYR could record a Watertown forecast before the news, and have that air at the same time as the Syracuse weather. That would require someone to be there to push the buttons, or everyone's favorite, automation. However, radar changes every minute, especially during a LES event. However, it takes a large amount of time before people would really notice, just look at News 10 Now.
Morning locals. That could be interesting. WWTI still has a green-screen, and Chyron, along with John Moore to anchor. WWTI could do a local block, probably A, then switch back to the Syracuse feed after weather for sports and such. Again with the assimilation of WSYR news, bring up the WSYR virtual-studio.
Watertown Traffic? Whenever I'm there, there's always red stoplights, and when yours turns green, it doesn't mean anything because there's no room ahead of you!
I wouldn't be shocked if the satellite system brought in something in the way of ratings. People in Lewis county aren't big fans of WWNY.
On another note, a few years back I thought they should use some sort of video-dj system, such as the one in use at Headline News. My idea was have people in Syracuse anchor the stories, then ship them up to Watertown to be put together to make a newscast. The logistics are alright, but having an anchor at the desk for that amount of time would almost force the hiring of another.
