News 10 Interview w/ Lukas and Maney

I just watched 15 minutes of these two "men" tell how devestating it was to loose heir job and a listener and then blame it on someone elese!! I work at Entercom and it makes me sick to hear these two rant about how they were just doing their jobs!!! I was, am, not sure if I want to be freinds with these two and this just makes them look so pathetic!! They lied about everything!!! I can't believe this, I just lost all respect for them. At least Trish "Jayde" has the smarts to move on and get another career going, good for her!

I used to have empathy for all parties involved. Obviously, a family's loss was the most tragic. I also felt that the Morning Rave was not entirely to blame since the legal department is supposed to give the green light for contests. However, after seeing this interview my feelings have changed about Lukas and Maney because of their serious lack of character and integrity.

"Devastating" seems to be the key word - they use it countless times while being interviewed. Now, before anyone blames the television station for slanting the story in the editing room, know that I actually watched the uncut interview (http://www.news10.net/video/player_news10.aspx?aid=43486&sid=31086&bw=hi&cat=2). Talk about trying to escape blame. It was disgusting.

They claim the contest was "handed to them". Really? In my years of experience in radio, more often than not, it's a morning show who pushes their ideas onto management and promotions. If they're not coming up with their own on-air contests then maybe they shouldn't have a morning show in the first place. True - it should have been cleared by legal, which appears not to be the case, but to throw almost everyone else under the bus and take on roles as martyrs is sick.

Interesting this law suit should come up after the window of opportunity to get another Sacramento job closes. I understand that their careers were in radio but if they're that desperate for money, maybe they should go and pursue other means of work for the time being. Instead, most likely spoiled by a nice paycheck and some local notariety, they want to whine about not being able to get another job in this town. Trish moved on. Do you hear her crying about wrongful termination? No. She's taking care of her business and not trying to squeeze money out of anyone.

Anyone who is serious about being in radio should know that there's a very high probability of having to switch markets - that job stability is not the norm. Granted, the circumstances here are a bit different than just being fired for low ratings or because of budget cuts. Nevertheless, it's a harsh reality about the business. These guys need to grow a pair and lose the "entitlement" mindset.

For those who want to see how the "polished" version of the interview turned out, check out http://www.news10.net/video/player_news10.aspx?aid=43487&sid=31086&bw=hi&cat=2.

Whatnow?
Since you were "smart" enough to say you work there, I can understand your comments. Maybe you're the one that is in management that they referred to in the interview that's still working there.
Like the posts said when this all happened, the truth will come out. Unfortunately, News 10 or KCRA couldn't get reporters to ask the real questions and get the real answers.

Actually I'm not that person, that person is not that much of an aquaintencde of mine to give my opinion on him. All I was trying to say is that their "interview" lacked responsibility on their part. And after knowing them for many years is was just dissapointing to hear them say what they said.

Simple solution:

"Lukas & Maney" are dead.

Assume new persona...create new show...find new gig outside Sacramento. If your entire schtick is predicated upon a silly radio name, how much do you really have to offer?

So sayeth Neanderpaul!

Seriously...they could create a new show. Most people outside of Sac have no idea what they look like, and the audience wouldn't be able to tell. They could legitimately create a new show and start over.

This is not the press wave I'd want to ride.

My advice..honestly...Let this go now. Stop trying to drag out a situation that will inevitably result in a no-win decision, and the effective end of their career forever.

Suing your former employer is the end. Horrible pun intended.

Wasn't there a lawyer on this board somewhere? How do they even possible have grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit? California is an at-will employment state and they're not a protected class....

The stupidity...it boggles the mind. I really tried to like those guys when I worked there, but I could only tolerate so much!

California is an at-will employment state UNLESS you have a signed contract...which MOST personalities do. Not sure about those three. Trish/Jayde(whatever) did the right thing.
