News anchors/reporters with disabilities

I had forgotten about it, but I think I was reminded about it until I saw a scan about his death on your wonderful website www.birminghamrewound.com! :)

WLS-TV 7 in Chicago currently has a hearing impaired reporter on their newscast. Her name is Karen Meyer and she does segments involving people with disabilities on all newscasts. She speaks, but not clearly, and she does use sign language, and the station does open caption when she reports so the people who can read what's she's reporting. Open caption is different from closed caption, since open caption is seen by all viewers, and at least in WLS-TV, the text isn't in black bars. Closed caption is where it's available, but must be turned on on the TV set to view the text.

Oh. Heh heh .... just goes to show you how I'll sometimes breeze through a newspaper article while putting together the monthly sections. That one, for instance. Glad SOMEBODY'S reading 'em.... ;D

Neil Cavuto has multiple sclerosis.

Rob Peppers, a meteorologist at Topeka's WIBW-TV, has Parkinson's disease, and it is very tough for him to maintain stability on the air.
