News anchors teaser(stay tuned for more info)

I as i sat and watched phoenix fox10(5:00 pm) news the other day,i got a kick out of the news anchors in how they get you to stay tuned for a story, that they are going air next with a tease about the story, when in this day and age of computers and iphones you can look up the story in a matter of seconds. Why do they even bother with the teaser?to me its silly and redundent.

Perhaps you and I can, along with many others in this forum, as we have access to broadband and know how to use a search engine, but you'd be surprised at how many people do not. One would think that people have the mental capacity to resist the tease (these are not the droids you're looking for) but apparently, many don't, as the tease continues to be employed successfully.

True,i didn't think about those who don't access to the Internet.News five is very good at hyping up an exclusive story, only to fall flat with half facts and half hype.

15 does a wonderful job of "scaring" the viewer. An example: "A common household cleaner has been linked to a serious health condition...coming up on ABC 15 News at 10 (says Steve in his best Peter Jennings accent :D)".

I've noticed this too although I can't say it is exclusive to KPHO. Time after time the "big hype" is breathlessly postured only to have the anchor breeze through the story as if it were yesterday's school menus.

I also don't appreciate an early news program presenting a partial story with the "rest of the story at ten". That is a sure way to get me to remove that station from my news viewing.

Truth is, most TV news is virtually useless unless you're interested in scenes of police cars lining the streets, homes on fire or SB1070 protesters crying on the sidewalks of the Capitol. For example, the "Russian spies" story headlined both local and national news the past few days yet all we saw were pictures of the attractive 20-something in NYC. I have yet to hear just what these people were spying on. I mean, how many national secrets can you uncover when your pastimes are shopping and hanging out in NYC's watering holes or in suburban New Joisy?
