In recent months, "News Central" operations on Sinclair stations in Rochester, New York and Pittsburgh have been shut down, with other TV stations in those markets producing newscasts to air on those stations in place of "News Central".
It's being speculated that "News Central" broadcasts in Buffalo and Milwuakee may also soon go off the air, perhaps again replaced by newscasts produced by other stations in those cities.
It was posted on one of the TV Spy.com messageboards that the staff of the Tampa Bay "News Central" at WTTA-38 has been told that the newsroom (what there is of it) would be closed down within 90 days and that they would all be losing their jobs at that time.
There are even rumors that Sinclair may junk "News Central" entirely, which could leave several Sinclair stations without local newscasts (since it may not be possible for the Sinclair stations in every "News Central" market to air a newscast produced for them by another station in town).
Does anyone in Tampa Bay know if indeed the local "News Central" is closing down?? And if so, when??
