NEWS: Clear Channel seeks new listener measurement system

A tidbit from the article:

But radio executives have long been dissatisfied with Arbitron's system, which relies on written diaries of what stations listeners are tuning in to over a three-month period. That information is then published a month later.

"That's crazy given the technology that's available today," John Hogan, head of Clear Channel's radio division, told Reuters. "We think it's appropriate to ask for audience estimates based on current technology that are more reliable, more accurate and more readily available. We spend $55 million a year on ratings information. We want more for our money."

Why not just call people at home while eating dinner to ask them what their favorite station is? Wait, Clear Channel does that now!

Ok, I got it. How about you poll everyone that calls in to the station? Then you can better slant the data. No, that's no good. People will catch on to you if you make it too believable.

Ok, I got it!!! Count the bumper stickers on the cars driving up and down the major freeways, and give the side streets to the newbies and over night shift!!!

That tracker thing's been out a while, or least in test stages. They were also thinking of taking advantage to Digital signals to poll. Guess what conspiracy theorist, that means that you would have to send back a carrier to the originating TX carrier... You can start you government blogs........wait for it............ NOW!

What, you think they don't already do that with the chip we... I mean, THEY... implanted in your head when you were born?

I just think that the digital monitor would report more accurate data faster.<P ID="signature">______________
