2. As for our original topic, radio news in Columbus is pretty much dead.

I agree with you (with maybe the exception of WCBE's NPR coverage). Which makes me think, what in blue blazzes was North American Broadcasting thinking when they tanked Ted-FM for Talk-FM. The line I keep seeing quoted in the papers mentions that todays generation doesn't know how to set their radio to AM. On the other hand, maybe the younger generation doesn't care for talk radio, and making it Stereo Talk Radio shouldn't make a difference. I'm guessing they will have an audience for Bob & Tom, and Mark the Shark for local sports, but otherwise I don't expect their ratings to go sky high. Then again, maybe they made the change because talk is cheap.

Good observations. Now, there are indeed some successful talk FM's, but I'll bet none of them have signal problems as bad as WTDA's. And the upcoming upgrade looks like a joke.

They obviously need some kind of leader in that news department! I just listened to the noon report, keeping in mind we are in Columbus, Ohio and they tout themselves as being THE news station in this city:

Lead Story: Murders in YOUNGSTOWN, followed by the Red Cross needs blood and the obligatory Iraq story of the day. Atleast I got a local weather forecast in there...
