Ed Walsh (formerly of WCBS, WOR & 1010 WINS) has been named to replace Gary LaPierre as morning news anchor at WBZ Newsradio 1030.

For the past couple of weeks there has been much criticism about the TIMING of the WRKO-AM news department bloodbath, but if it had occurred EARLIER, Rod Fritz might have become the successor to Floriderman.

Just like they way they [EDIT] Todd Gross.

YEP, it was too late...

Sorry to hear that. Know that Ed lived in Duxbury for a few years while at WRKO but he was instrumental in Gene Burns syndicated talk show demise if not mistaken when they were both in New York. If it is the same Ed Walsh his actions would make this poster question his integrity.

Without a single doubt Rod Fritz would have been a much better choice but again one is never a profit in his own hometown.

Ed has a great voice and wish him well but he comes with some questionable baggage

Does anyone know what happened to Ed Carroll? Did he go to another TV station or is he doing radio somewhere. It's like he vanished!!! ???

WRKO didn't want Fritz going to WBZ - creating their own competition.

A prophet is not without honor save in his own country

Words spoken by Jesus to the people of Nazareth, the town where he grew up. They refused to believe in his teaching because they considered him one of themselves and therefore without authority to preach to them. 1
‡ The expression is now used of anyone whose talents and accomplishments are highly regarded by everyone except those at home. 2

Funny that Lucy Lu said Carter Alan is born again. I gave him that line decades ago.

After the great Jimmy Miller produced my band, the man that worked with the Stones, Carter said he
didn't like the production and he offered to produce our band.

Gee. Wow. Think about it. You can work with the guy who made "Gimme Shelter" and "Tumblin' Dice",
or have the WBCN music director produce you and maybe get airplay.

I told crater, I mean Carter, "A prophet is not without honor save in his own country"

Maybe that's what made him finally turn to Jesus?

Casablanca morphed it into a query on Corporate greed: "but again one is never a profit in his own hometown."

God forbid we should introduce morality into broadcasting... ;)

Thanks for noting my paraphrase of "A prophet is not without honor save in his own country".

This Walsh guy is truely one of the biggest scumbags in radio. He has stabbed more people in the back than John Kerry, only to be fired from job after job. WBZ should have checked the references a little closer. Casey had better keep an eye on his own job...since this fellow has a knack for eating his own young.

examples? That seems like a pretty strong accusation.

Word is that Ed Walsh was the force behind Gene Burns syndication crash and burn about 10 years ago. That's why Gene left Boston to go syndy. But as Jay Severino proves few can actually do that. Still, it doesn't speak well for Walsh who when I knew him at WRKO was a real straight shooter.... one of the few.

That "word" is from.....who?

One person...Gene Burns.

While we all like Gene Burns work.....there are two sides to every story.

I would not trash someone as strong as PennBlue did....hearing only one side of a story.
