Wow. All Access is reporting that CBS is getting out of the news business in LA after 40 years. They are flipping News Radio 980 KFWB to AM Talk... Could KRLD's days be numbered in light of the recent cuts???
You're more likely to get KFTI in Wichita, Kansas...but if you are able to null that out, it is possible to get KNX during the early morning hours...but nowadays there's alot of co-channel interference.
I recall that KNX would boom into the Texas Panhandle with no interference years ago.
I got KNX at night in Albuquerque and Santa Fe four years ago, but that's the farthest I've ever gotten it. I agree that you're most likely to get Wichita on 1070, but most radios in Dallas, even before IBOC, weren't likely to get anything on 1070.
I'm so old that I can remember when KFWB was top-40.
When my father attended the University of Santa Clara in the San Francisco area, I could hear 98 KFWB at night although it had only 5,000 watts. All-news began in March 1968 ... more than 40 years ago when all-news was rather novel.
