At first, I thought this post was way out of place on the San Francisco board, but then I gave them a listen and ... wow! What a surprise!

They had local Bay Area traffic on the 5's, a long sports report (led off with the 49ers still in the running for Peyton Manning, plus A's and Giants Cactus League updates, and the scores of last night's Warriors and Sharks games), and very good local reporters covering the Ross Mirkarimi mess and even a story about yesterday's St. Patrick's Day parade in San Francisco.

They're just coming out of national news at the top of the hour, and back into more Bay Area and Northern California news.

Excellent! I'd still put them behind KCBS, but maybe neck-and-neck with KGO.

Uhhhhh ... not.

Oh, and if they are "non-profit" (and I saw that nowhere on their website), then why are they running commercial spots and soliciting advertisers so aggressively?

Uh, "non-profit" means that the company is not owned by shareholders who take money out of it. It doesn't mean that they don't charge. Most hospitals are non-profit, but they definitely charge for services.
