NEWS RE: CHU/7335 kHz

According to the on-air announcement, CHU/7335 has been relicensed to continue to operate on 7335 kHz. So, fortunately a very vital and very necessary shortwave service has been renewed for the shortwave community. Congratulations, CHU!

What about their signals on 3330 and 14670 kHz? Is CHU only going to operate on 7335 now?

IIRC, the 3330 and 14670 transmitters were never in any danger of being shut down.

Yes.

The frequency band containing 7335 had been reallocated [0] in an international agreement, and CHU feared their operation would not be permitted under the new allocations.

That reallocation didn't apply to 3330 or 14670. Apparently it was somehow decided CHU could qualify in the new service after all. (I would certainly think they would qualify as a broadcast station, though the format sure sucks<grin>!)

[0] from the Fixed Service to Broadcasting, if I recall properly
