News Starts Monday 6 AM on 101.9 FM ?

Someone mentioned they heard a News promo for News to start 6 AM Monday morning...I haven't heard any announcemnets about this. Will News be starting at all on Monday ?

There was one "live break" (maybe voicetracked) at about 6:35pm on Friday evening 7/15/11 with 3 unidentified people (2 males, 1 female) on air - one of the unmistakable voices was that of Paul Cavalconte, who had the Sunday "Vinyl Experience" show on WRXP (link: http://www.1019rxp.com/paul/) & had hosted shifts on the former tenant of 101.9: CD101.9 WQCD. He's also worked at 107.1 in Westchester County, NY, likely during the WXPS "Express" days in the early 1990s. I think he may have been on WQEW 1560 as well during their run as Adult Standards. He's surviving the format change(s) much like Dennis Quinn did for 30+ years at 101.9 FM.

Anyway...the break started with the "other" male voice saying: "Breaking News: according to TMZ.com, Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony have split up..." and then proceeded to read the brief "divorce announcement" (link: http://www.tmz.com/2011/07/15/jenni...iage-children-end-relationship-american-idol/) and then the "female voice" maybe made one comment about it followed by an announcement from Cavalconte: "For more news, tune in at 6am on Monday morning." I'd assume that meant this upcoming Monday morning 7/18/11.

We'll see what happens...

To clarify and expand upon my earlier post:

Of course we don't know what "kind" of news program could debut on Mon. 7/18. Could be that the Friday evening "teaser" was meant to make us believe that the Monday morning show will follow the womens/fashion/style/health/food/family/gossip? type format that's been presented so far...and maybe it'll be that way as part of a stunt for a short while (up to two weeks?) or maybe permanent.
Or maybe a harder hitting news format will emerge sooner rather than later, making this in-between period just window dressing with a somewhat false lead.
Important to note that none of us really knows what is real and what is transitional/stunting...just educated guesses based on what we've all read and heard so far.

Is there a aircheck of just the news announcement for Monday available ?

It's available on FormatChange.com under the RXP- 101.9 New format change

I only see the format change clip from RXP to 101.9 FM New, not a clip of the annoucement. Someone have a direct link to that clip?

so far no promos for new News Monday at 6 AM...you would think they would have some announcements if they are beginning their News Monday morning.

Don't hear any promo's for it in this clip, so I don't know.

I hope there is a stream official or unofficial tommorow to listen the start. I'm outside the NYC aeria.

The promo with Paul C and the other voices about some sort of news talk on Monday is near the end of the clip on the format change web site. There is a jingle the start of a john couger song a pause and then you hear U2 fading out. (who ever did this clip telescoped all the music) any way right after the song fades there is a spot set that begins with female voices talking about things they like and then comes this promo talking about breaking news that J low and Mark Anthony are spliting up (which is a story that broke on Friday) any way it ends with " more on this (meaning discussion of this entertainment story) Monday morning 6 to 10 a.m. 1019 FM new" Apparenty
Friday evening might have been the only time this promo ran. We will just have to tune in Tomorrow at 6 am and find out what kind of news or talk show this is. I wonder why I didn't hear this promo the rest of the weekend. Either I missed it or Maybe they only wanted it to run once when it did during the first hour of the so called stunting.

This makes for some good "radio theater of the mind". However I think some people are being led on to think this station is going in a direction that it really isn't. Who know's what it will be in the end? But I bet it won't resemble anything that everyone thinks it will be.

What are the chances that it'll stay as a Hot AC/Adult Hits music channel? I can see it facing off with WLTW, same style of music.

Not likely to remain a full-time music format given the news people that have been lured away (mostly from WINS since one of the Merlin NYC execs worked in sales at 1010 in the past).

Just my opinion...it may still wind up being more slanted towards females due to:

-the female audience may be easier to target and reach rather than the more elusive male audience.

-by being on FM it should be easier to at least share audience with 'KTU, Z100, LiteFM, Fresh, 'PLJ & 'CBS-FM. WBLS / Steve Harvey, too since they're doing fairly well overall & 25-54.
