Tuesday mornin' shock jock HOWARD STERN said give him two weeks to make an announcement about his future TV plans. E! will be removing their cameras in a few days.
Last week Howie played a recorded telemarketing call from WKTU's BALTAZAR & GOUMBA JOHNNY. Very funny!
WFAN's STEVE SOMERS is on vacation this week. Did ya hear Steve playing WCBS-FM classic tunes as "bumper music" on his show last week?
Any news on who gets the overnight slot on WFAN? WFAN's ANDY GRESH told his listeners recently that he tips the scale near 350 pounds. Per his bio on the SCORE, Andy has a few nicknames like TUBBS, LURCH & BIG DADDY. He enjoys cigars and gambling. What are the odds on Gresh getting da overnight gig?
Speaking of the overnight show on WFAN....please move Joe B back to overnights! Joe was made for that shift. I miss the nights of Joe yelling after the METS blow one. I'm not thrilled with the current crop of try-outs.
One caller asked one of the try-out guys a question about sports in the '70s and the host was clueless. Can't wait for SHORT AL to ask one of the guys a question about the old BROOKLYN DODGERS.
WLNG's PAUL SIDNEY told his listeners over the weekend that he is sticking to his diet.
I was reading a website about NICK FOTIU (old NY RANGERS player) the other day and they mentioned the old LONG ISLAND COUGARS (minor league hockey team that played at the LONG ISLAND ARENA). The site stated ELI GOLD (of NASCAR LIVE fame) & HOWARD LAWRENCE did the radio call on Long Island. What LI radio station aired the LI COUGARS? I would guess WGLI. I know ch 67 WSNL aired a few games on TV.
Thanks again MUSICBIZ.COM for the mention.
