News/Talk 96.9 WTKK

It seems that WTKK should be getting better numbers than it's getting. Perhaps, it's because we're looking at 6+ numbers which really means very little. Does anyone have a breakdown on their "demo" numbers? If they are doing as poorly as I think they are doing, perhaps Greater Media should flip them to "all Christmas" on December 6th and then start a new format on January 1. God knows what that could be! That's the problem.

Greater Media seems committed to the news-talk format. Maybe it should be getting better numbers but they make some $. Graham and Eagan & Braude are under contract into next year.
btw today's Herald said that Gov Patrick made a statement on the Jim and Margery show on
"WRKO AM 680". Hillary Chabot was apparently mistaken. (That was in the print version of the paper; it correctly says WTKK 96.9 on the paper's website.)

Maybe some demo numbers will show up via media columns in the papers.

Herald and Globe make the occasional blunder

Globe: Red Sox game on "WEEI-FM (850)" (from the days when they were on 850 only, and before
they went to 93.7)

Herald: game will be on "WRPO (630)" (not WPRO)

96.9 is sounding, pretty ok these days. I had the chance in the last few weeks to listen to them, I like "Michael Smerconish" show a lot. He speak (excelent) English. Michael Grahm is ok. Not bad.
I hope they can last a long time and wish their station the best.

@Raccoon: You should see the host of errors in the Washington Post for radio stations that still don't exist in some form. DCRTV documents them all.. :-X

Where do their news updates come from? I only listen late at night, and the announcers sound very young (college students) and like they're talking from a telephone booth (bad acoustics compared to a regular studio).

I think their traffic reports and news/weather come from Total Traffic, which is actually from Clear Channel. They probably put the younger, less experienced staff on later at night. My guess anyway.

The one who does the overnights (weeknights) sounds like the same person who did (still does?) WHDH-7’s traffic, but with a different name (which I realize wouldn’t be unusual).

Hey, if CC can put Whoopi Goldberg (with zero radio experience) on the air in New York and other major markets... ::)
