News/Talk WGST Returning on June 3

WGST-AM is returning as a News/Talk station on June 3.

The new WGST will carry syndication from 7AM-6PM. The lineup will consist of Wall Street Journal This Morning, Andrea Tantaros, Glenn Beck and Dave Ramsey.

What will happen after 6PM is unclear.

Matt Scarano was not pleased with those 0.0 ratings? ??? ??? He makes Nancy Zintak (Planet Radio) and Randall Bloomquist (Reign of Stupidity) look like programming geniuses.

That's great news! Dave Ramsey's show sucks, however. I hope WGST will carry Coast to Coast AM with George Noory again.

Yeah, that exciting lineup should get them at least .2. GST long ago jumped the shark on news talk. It's too late. Try something else. The syndication thing didn't work the last time they tried it. Did somebody over there stumble across Bloomquist's old notes and a bottle of vodka?

*yawn* So, where are they going to get the news part of the News/Talk? If it is all syndicated, then I guess the news will be all network. They could carry GNN at the bottom of the hour and Fox news at the top.

Did anybody think ESPN deportes would get any ratings? That was a pretty dumb move. Of course wall to wall syndication will hardly do any better. It would be nice to have a local morning show, and perhaps local in PM drive. That daytime signal is quite good.

Case in point..WEPN AM in New York carries Deportes and they also have an .01 or.02. Considering the large Spanish speaking population in NY, that is quite a poor performance. Big mistake splitting up the AM and FM last year. 1050 reaches up the Hudson River, while 98.7 does not.

The should do a "Ralph from Ben Hill" type of show at night. That is where the night signal reaches.

You're kidding! Ralph was aweful.

Ralph was not a polished personality, but he was fun to listen to. He had ratings for a 1,000 watt night signal. He pulled in a different audience for the station at night, but the station could not reach it's daytime listeners. Cater to the audience that can hear the station at night.

Ralph From Ben Hill (RIP) was a lot of fun! And he gave a different perspective than the other talkers...and not necessarily what you'd expect. Probably the closest thing ever (with all due respect to Royal Marshall, also RIP) to a black Neal Boortz.

I just read in Talkers that The Wall Street Journal this Morning will be the morning drive program on the station. No, it's not local at all, but that group does an EXCELLENT job. The show it timely, informative and topical. It's a great alternative than hearing the same news over and over again that other typical "news" station do.
