News10 NBC Today is boring

This morning show use to be fun. It's not anymore. It's boring and repetitive. It's too serious. All they do is tell the news, the same stories every half an hour, and then the weather. This show needs to be spiced up. They use to go places every Friday and eat. I missed that. Pat McGonigle is a decent news anchor, but he doesn't seem to have that morning personality. Rebecca Leclair has lost some of her charisma. Rich Caniglia is decent. He's the best morning weatherman compared the the ones on 8 and 13. But News10 NBC Today is missing something. They should have games or something in the studio, at least Wake Up Rochester does this. Lynette Adams belongs on in the evening. I noticed whenever she does a live story, and let the person talks whom she is interviewing, she seems to cut them off and not let them have a whole lot of time to speak. Channel 10 has really slipped over the years, and so have their morning show. I have stopped watching it. I always turn to Sportscenter.

I'm from the old school. All I want from TV News is news and weather. I could give a damn about all the gimmics some station anchors and reporters perform during their morning shows. Gimmics like having an anchor taking dance lessons to tie in with a network program. Yawn!

Games in the studio belong on game shows, not newscasts.

I agree, to an extent. one of the purposes of *morning* shows is to help get people ready for their day by making them feel good and laugh. clearly there's a point where a newscast becomes ridiculous. but anchors having some fun and keeping people smiling and looking forward to the day is important. if you're looking just for news, then morning newscasts aren't where you're going to find it.

the plain old news and weather morning shows don't get any ratings. you may like them, but clearly not many others do.

Speaking from experience I feel that morning shows on radio are more designed to get people awake and in a good mood versus a TV newscast. Even if you listen to a morning radio show it is very seldom that the newscaster tries to become part of the "comedy team."
This should not be the case for a TV newscast.

The worst thing, I believe, is for a TV reporter/anchor ruining their creditability by participating in ratings gimmicks or making a lame attempt to be humorous.

Many local TV newscasts are trying to merge the hard news format, with that of the Today Show or GMA. That is a formula that just doesn't work...in my opinion. Of course there will be people who will disagree with my observations.

No, their purpose is to give the news. If you want to feel good in the morning, I suggest you purchase some Saturday Night Live DVD's and begin your morning watching "Daily Affirmations with Stuart Smalley." Because you're good enough, you're smart enough, and dog gone it, people like you.
