Newsday's Secret Agenda?

Re: the Newsday stories on lack of local content in L.I. radio:Newsday's parent company wants the end of the cross-ownership rule that prohibits newspapers from owning radio stations. The FCC chairman has been urging big media to crusade for an end to the ban.Isn't this editorial piece just an attempt to make the case that Newsday should be allowed to own a radio station?

Re: Newsday's Not-So-Secret Agenda?

Newsday is owned by the Tribune Company (as in Chicago Tribune).Tribune already owns WGN, Chicago (plus a bunch of TV stations).WGN is one of the finest radio stations in the US. A station like it on Long Island or in the City would be a great asset. And, yes, there is a lack of local content on Long Island - except for Newsday. That's the fault of the other current station owners.
