NewsNet Launches In New York, Los Angeles

https://tvnewscheck.com/article/more-news/235549/newsnet-launches-in-new-york-los-angeles/

After five months on-air, NewsNet, a 24/7 news channel now reaches the top three TV markets in the country, and is continuing to expand its reach nationwide.

NewsNet launched Jan. 1 as a subchannel on 18 TV stations across the country. Launch markets included Chicago, Houston, San Francisco and Detroit, and the network has expanded its reach since launch.

In April, NewsNet debuted on KFLA Los Angeles on ch. 8.1, and last month, it was added to WJLP New York (ch. 33.6). The diginet is now on-air in six of the country’s top 10 markets, with 36 affiliates now carrying the network. Five additional stations have committed to carrying it in the coming weeks, and NewsNet is finalizing affiliation agreements with several other stations as well.

KFLA and WJLP are named as the stations getting the NewsNet affiliation.

Two stations that NO ONE will ever watch if they're not on cable as NO ONE will even know they exist...

They are on in Detroit on Channel 14.9. This is an LPTV, but I'm able to pull in the signal cleanly.

I like the format. Hearkens back to what Headline News was twenty years ago. Great that this is available on OTA TV.

Seems like we've been talking about this for years. This channel began at an LPTV station in Cadillac Michigan with a GoFundMe page seeking to raise enough money to launch. It seemed like an impossible thing to do from such a small place. But in today's world, you don't actually need to have staff or facilities to cover the news. You just grab everyone else's coverage off the net. It's news on the cheap.
