Newspaper article today on the State College Market

Of course, you're gonna have some overlap with almost any format you put on the air -- if you have eight stations you're gonna cross over somewhere.

That being said, in the day of automation and satellite programming, it doesn't take much for a station to be a success in the minds of management. All it needs to do is draw in some semblance of ad dollars and ratings and maybe fit well into the group's combo buys. Not every station is gonna rake in big bucks.

I agree, me claiming to be an all star expert on the air is analogous to you comparing yourself to a great singer or something juvenile like that. After all any second rate bar band flunky can have delusional thoughts and we know you are far beyond that you are so much better. Just think you could have been so insecure that you feel the need to grade others if you were a Wesley professor! You seem to need to overcompensate for some lack of self esteem. I need not bow and genuflect to you. This is a gossip site that all. It’s a gossip site. It might be your last chance at anybody taking you seriously. When it is said and done you still have dodged all the questions and ha ha-ed and piter patered your way past your poor attempt at a blue blood imitation.

If you want to look back at you very own posts I challenge you to do that. You did not address any issue that I asked. Radio is cake it is what I did in high school and college. Its not tough, trying to understand bitter pretentious people isn’t either. Besides being married to a retired morning guy do you know anything about radio? Anything? Been in a radio station in the last few years? I don’t hear any ads on any station for your business. Mrs. W can you back it up. No dearest darling, I am a sweet little fuzz ball just being the matriarch of the State College radio market. (In my own mind) By the way My second internship was at KYW news radio yes with a S. I have actually been there have you?

OK folks to everybody else I am sorry if this is too far. I signed on the site after hearing about some things that seemed very personal. The first thing I saw was a battle between two people of strong will. Then I saw a PD offering a real job to a “hot looking chick” even if she sounded bad. I have posted and my co workers have too. My friends have also. There is some good info here for everybody. I was slapped in the face so sorry if I used the forum to fight back. I have friends at ALL the stations in town and don’t feel it competitive. Its fun and friendly here. We are all in it together.
are, and 5) how did you know he was referring to you?

I never said you claimed to be anything. I've never even heard you. You might be the next big thing. I have no idea. But you'll need to get another analogy. I am a classically trained singer and have been for over 25 years. Moving on...

I'm not getting into a pissing match with you as to whether or not I addressed your post. I just addressed it again in my last post so I'm finished with that.

Do you child, have any idea at all to whom you are talking?

My husband is not retired from radio.

I was over at the radio stations at the end of last week.

And surprise, I've been on the air, dozens of times in fact and not just here in State College.

I've never been the jock, I've always been the client although I have been on my husband's show several times but that was quite a while ago.

I'm no matriarch because I'm way too young to be one.

KYW? Yup, been there plenty of times. The nice part about once having a job where I had to buy tons of radio spots in PA is that you get to go to all of the stations you work with. When you're paying thousands of dollars for those spots, they tend to throw in a few lunches as well.

Oh and by the way...yes, I do think it's insulting to bust on someone's work and I also think it's insulting to hire someone based on looks. I still have no clue which Revolution female you are.

But, I just gotta know...do you have any clue to whom you are talking? I know who you think I am, I'd like to know if you know.

Does it matter if I know who you are? I am a mere child as you put it so my opinion is worthless to you. I do know that you came off as pretentious in many posts. No I have never heard of you, I just talked to a good friend/sales side for years at Independence mall who also has never heard of you. The current rate card on KYW would warrant more than a lunch or two.

So to answer your question my lady, nobody has any idea who you are. I asked and not even people who grew up here have any idea who you are. A housewife from the sounds of it. I asked owners, DJs, salespeople, in State College, Altoona, and Philly. I looked on the net. Who do you buy ads for perhaps some stealth account?

Just hit bottom lady, do I have any idea who you are? Do you?

To all others with love and respect,

The saga continues! Yes friends join right in and talk about all but radio! Some bizarre goings-on. I just feel its time that if you post something then back it up. I am not trying to fight with this dear, sweet, old, classically musically trained, woman. I will however stick up for myself! Ohhhh a chick fight!

Well, if you went asked your supposed friends from KYW who go back years and years, hopefully you had the correct name. I suspect you didn't considering you supposedly came up with nothing. But if you went to one person, chances are likely it isn't the person I worked with. Was this supposed good friend a male or female? And yes, any KYW rate card, current or not, warrants more than a lunch or two. It was an example, you twit. I obviously got more than a lunch or two from the station. When you buy thousands of dollars for radio spots, you get treated really well every single time you hit City Line. The same holds true for Q102, Power 99 and WOGL (Oldies 98), all stations in Philadelphia I've worked with and purchased radio packages from in the past.

> So to answer your question my lady, nobody has any idea
> who you are. I asked and not even people who grew up here

Then you are obviously asking the wrong people or using the wrong name.

> A housewife from the sounds of it.

There's nothing wrong with being a housewife. Nice if you can get it but I've never been one. I've worked outside the home since the age of 15. Longer if you count being paid to sing.

> I asked owners, DJs, salespeople, in State College,
> Altoona, and Philly.

And you did all of this in the 15 minutes or so between posts? Wanna a few names to help you? Here's a list of people who can help, assuming you are using the correct name: Pat Boland, Glen Turner, Dave Shannon, Kevin Nelson, Joe Trimarchi, Diana Albright, Jeff Byers, Mark Brennan, Phil Grosz, Steve Jones, Jeff Brown, Jen Tiffany, Terry Wilcox, Robert Duffield, Scott Hammond, Steven Facenda, Gary Chrisman, Gail Bair, Chris Prospero, Jim Moser, Pat Urban, Lou Kolb, Theresa Hiester(a.k.a. Stephanie Garrison), Raymond Boudreau, Ashear Barr, Lisa Brenner, Scott Brilliant, Whitney Vass, Charles Orr, John Fanelli, Elliot Grossman, Charlie Hertzog, Charlie Grundy, Matt Hahn, Melony Shook, Carl Krupa, Jim Shields, Shawn Koppenhaver, Juston Mullin, Ken Matthews, Valerie Moss, Tamara Moon, etc.

That's a partial list of salespeople, air staff, PD's, GM's, etc. from the east to the west and that's off the top of my head. Any more and I'd need to sit here with my Rolodex which I don't feel like doing.

> I looked on the net. Who do you buy ads
> for perhaps some stealth account?

What did you do? Google me? I can't be Googled, assuming you have the correct name. The only time you could have Googled me was as a Penn State employee and only if you knew the organization I worked for. That's the organization the ads and the live remotes were purchased for. Hardly a stealth account.

> Just hit bottom lady, do I have any idea who you are? Do
> you?

I know exactly who I am. C'mon, guess. I dare you. There are only two people on this board who know my first and last name. If you come up with the correct name, I'll know exactly which one told you.

> I just feel
> its time that if you post something then back it up.

I've backed up everything so far, you're the one who's playing coy.

> I am
> not trying to fight with this dear, sweet, old, classically

You obviously have no clue who you are attempting to play with do you? Admit it. And I'm not OLD. I'm not sweet either...at least not to people who piss me off.

>Ohhhh a chick fight!

Time and place baby, time and place...if you're gonna talk that talk, then by all means, walk that walk...

Why don't you each sing us a song and we will let Simon Cowell sort it out.....

Sorry I could not resist...now back to the other mindless dribble!!!

Thanks Steve! I'm up for it. Do I get to pick the songs? Thanks for throwing a lighter tone into the fray my brother...

He doesn't? That's why I've heard him on the Bus weekends and some weekdays and even heard him pulling a shift on WOWY as "Rippo Zippo" (or some other name) last week? The latter shocked me, even with the theories that 2510 and Forever are brothers in arms. And, yeah, you can't miss Dave Shannon's pipes, so I know it was him.

> All I can say is that they were moved on Memorial Day

I'm one of three people who probably listen to WMAJ regularly. And regularly there are screwups with the board op or the automation -- cutting out of programming, 30-second blocks of dead air, spots playing over each other, spots playing over the network feed, the network feed playing over local reports. It's not a new thing, and if that's the way things were happening on 1450 pre-merger I can see that happening regularly on 1390 nowadays.

Spelling error! Its Theresa Hieser(a.k.a. Stephanie Garrison) not Hiester as you put it. Very nice lady. The rest of the list sure didnt feel like sitting near you at the Dame Christmas party. I guess the table was set for three just clothing salesmen and you. Radio folks do stick together.

Well, off to be young and dumb.

The others on the list some very strong folks, I admire.

I read some familiar names, both in the article and subsequent postings. All of it can make a person nostalgic ... in my case, for the WDFM/WMAJ/WRSC/WQWK/WXLR days of the mid 1970s.

Interestingly enough, as all of this is being discussed, there's the last possible AM frequency available, 1490, now being fought by Cary Simpson, some Alabama group, Relevant Radio and that group which owns Sunny 106.5 in DuBois.

By the way, two sidethoughts, per later postings ...

(1) If you don't like religious radio now, don't root for Relevant Radio (aka Advance Acquisitions) on 1490.

(2) It might be nice to see Allegheny Mountain Network back in the market (if Simpson gets 1490).

Also, KYW sets a news standard that is becoming increasingly rare, no matter what market or ownership. (Infinity hasn't done too much to it, thankfully.)

>>>Miss Aretha,

Please look again at what he posted. As a woman are you not insulted? Would you be upset in my position? He stated that I do a bad job on the air, but that is OK due to my looks? That is a rotten thing to say. He ripped on my abilities then offered me a job on my looks only.<<<

This IS the original post that started you on this slippery slope, is it not? The answers to your questions in the order they are posed are:

yes, I am

yes, I would assuming the poster who made the commentary was referring to you

no, looks really have nothing to do with whether or not anyone does good work.

This work it out for you now?

Sorry, but that's exactly what I was told. She didn't refer to Dave as the PD, she simply stated that "the PD is on the air". She could have meant his morning shift.

I never said Kevin & Dave were responsible -- gawd knows they've been doing their best to keep the station going on their own for far too long. And gawd knows I've got first-hand knowledge about that!

Aw, c'mon, I was trying to be humorous. I do have a sense of humor..starting to doubt it with this room tho'.

Thanks for clarifying. I do appreciate it.

Wasn't saying you said that. Just wanted to make sure I said it. Makes me feel better knowing it's out there.
