Newspaper Attention

We can see how much attention the Tampa Tribune gives the local radio beat by checking out some of the entries under the Local Radio Listings on page 74 of the June 5-11, 2005 TV Guide:

WSSR 95.7 Adult Contemporary
WTBT 103.5 Classic Rock
WRBQ 104.7 Classic Hits (Classic Hits?)
WGUL 106.3 Adult Standards
WBBY 107.3 Soft Rock

Good post. I've noticed that the listings in the Sarasota Herald-Tribune Sunday TV section also need to be updated.

Here are just a few of the stations that need to be updated:

WDDV 92.1 Easy Listening
WYUU 92.9 70's oldies/classic hits
WSSR 95.7 Adult Contemporary
WYPT 97.7 80's hits
WKFF 100.1 Pop hit
WFJO 101.5 Rhythmic Oldies
WTBT 103.5 Classic Rock
WRBQ 104.7 Country
WYNF 105.9 Talk (days) Alternative (nights/weekends)
WBBY 107.3 Adult Contemporary

"That is indeed piss poor to say the least."

Agreed. Apparently they cut and paste week after week, with no concern of accuracy. I wonder if we all called the TV editor's desk and offered the corrections if they would do an update.

I'm also surprised the PDs or OMs haven't called them.

Truthfully, the PD's and OM's have given up on the rags.Back in the day, when reporters (cough) wrote weekly radio columns, they were usually so inaccurate, the PD's and OM's just gave up on them..and newspapers in general.

A little off-tangent, but also ask the Trib's TV magazine editor to add chs. 49 and 50 to the Pinellas / Pasco edition, and to change ch.61's black-bullets to ch.62.

These days, I trust the papers' TV magazines more than TV Guide for TV info, but still, there are lots more room for improvement.

Trust me. The "news"papers in this town could give two you know what's about radio. We're a competing media and they will do anything to put us in a bad light. Go ahead and put TV in there too.
Anytime any radio does a good thing, it's reported as "A local radio station".
Anytime anything negative happens the will give out the call letters, frequency and slogan.
